So far, he seems like a self absorbed punk to me. I'm going to hope I'm wrong, but so far he is standing right beside Watts on "taking the pledges at their word" instead of embracing the UAB community.

I only caught the end of the interview this morning, but he didn't come off as a punk or anything to me. I think the marathon thing was a joke from the poster here, not a comment from Ingram.
He seemed enthusiastic and really appreciative of everyone's effort. He joked about being happy to take pledges from Kurre and Barker. I thought he sounded ok.

RE: AD Ingram on WJOX tomorrow morning
Has the guy's contract even been finalized yet? I mean, this is a guy who just walked into one of the most unprecedented situations in college athletics history, so let's cut him some slack. He's a former football player, for crying out loud. Something tells me he wants an athletics department with a strong football team. As for the press conference, he took the mic after Ray Watts, the worst public speaker I've possibly ever seen, who killed the room with his hatred of everything. Yeah, the marathon joke fell flat. So what? He was trying to say (I believe) that he can persevere, something Ray Watts probably ain't going to do.

What's wrong with saying he's taking the pledges at the donor's word? Would you rather them question their validity?
Maybe the UAB community should do a little more embracing as well instead of calling him names for no reason at all. Give him a chance.
AD Mark Ingram (#52 not #22) passed his first test. We have UaB Football Bowling & Rifle back. We have Head Coach Clark back! Ingram does not have a signed contract yet. We are still in a dangerous time period while they determine the payment schedule for public and private donors. Watts said the program would be back in 2016 but he hedged a little bit on the answer. (I didn't like the way he said it.) Ingram has proven track record of raising BIG money for an athletic program. He has worked many years as an Assistant AD. Let him get his contract signed. Let's see if he sways Watts on the debt issue at some point when the deep pocket corporate donors show their hand (and cover debt payments). I believe Mark Ingram has the potential to be every bit a #BlazerMan as Head Coach Clark - if we give him a chance.
I'm going back under the bridge now...

No, Ingram talked about running in a marathon at the presser.

Apologies, I missed most of the presser due to work.

I encourage everyone to listen to the JOX-Ingram interview. I really like what Ingram had to say. It's encouraging. We need to get behind him.

I listened to the podcast. I spoke to hastily. I should give him more of a chance, and I will.

+1
I thought he give a pretty solid interview. There is a lot of work to do, but he seems to be hitting the ground running.

RE: AD Ingram on WJOX tomorrow morning
Definitely sounds better when he isn't reading the prepared PR document that sounded just like Watts'. He did say they were working both scenarios for the last couple of weeks. If that's true, how do you not have a strategy yet? Too many unknowns. They should have been discussing transfers/recruiting with the NCAA already, just to know what they could and could not do. They should have already been talking with C-USA to see what they need us to do, not wait until you decide to keep it and then try and find out.
I understand Watts has no clue what he is doing as an administrator and Ingram has only been on the job a couple of weeks, but they both looked so unprepared at the press conference. What concerns me most is the public perception that UAB is completely clueless in this debacle from Dec 2 to now because they don't say "Watts' decision", they say "UAB's decision". I've heard it repeated on sports radio in Mobile that yes, we have football back, but how bad UAB/administration looks right now, especially at the press conference yesterday.
How much of an impact will this be for recruits and for donors? Long term, with Clark, we will be fine, but I don't want to go through 5 more 2-10 seasons because Watts totally screwed us. I worry that if that happens, then we will back to Dec 2 in 5-6 years again.
