UAB owes CUSA a huge thanks
CUSA commissioner who obviously had the other 13 schools support allowed time for the movement at UAB to gain steam to restart football. If CUSA had reacted quickly after the decision last Dec and expelled UAB I doubt today would have gone the way it did.

I have to say that for as much flack that Banowsky recieves on the boards at times, he deserves a tip of the hat for the way he played this situation. I can't express how thankful I am that UAB will remain a member of CUSA. 04-cheers

Great point. Kudos to Banowsky for stepping back and giving the local UAB folks the time to settle this one inside the family.

I don't think it's over yet.

Does the league really want a program with the leadership of Ray Twats?

Totally unstable situation still when you could add a stable Sun Belt school or go grab James Madison if they are moving up. Hoping some of the UAB boosters give those checks only with the condition that Twats be removed from his post so the Blazers have some solidarity moving forward.

Something about the football program should change in order to mark the new era of UAB football. Change of colors? New mascot? New logo? I say get rid of the Dungeons & Dragons logo and go for a real animal. UAB Honey Badgers?

I would switch to UAB mascot to the phoenix as in rising from the ashes.

Watts will be gone by Christmas. I bet some of you guys didn't know he stood up Banowsky at the conference tournament.

It has been a nightmare for the faithful, and yes, I am very thankful for both Commissioner Banowsky and each of the member schools' fans and administrations.

I asked some fellow Blazer fans, did you ever imagine a day where we'd hope and pray we got to stay in CUSA? Well here we are.

Lots of work to do, but it's a beautiful day in the 'ham.

Too imitative of Atlanta.

I think UAB should actually keep the same colors/unis/mascot etc. to emphasize continuity. We'll see what they do, though...

If they do make any changes, it should be to use the "BIRMINGHAM" uniforms in basketball more often. Maybe in baseball, too...

I was thinking something comparable the other day. This is prime time for a re-branding of their athletics. They should keep the Blazers because it's super unique and now much more recognizable. Maybe new uniforms? Stick with "Birmingham" on the uniforms over UAB going forward?

I think Blazers is one of the coolest mascots in college sports (I mean...it's a dragon!). If they are looking to rebrand, well I may be a bit biased since I'm a Charlotte fan, but Birmingham has a nice ring to it.

Just to be clear, an athletic program with 17 sports should change their mascot because one of those sports ceased operation for six months?

How about when UAB returns to the field the uniforms sport a patch with the likeness of Don Quixote?

HELL NO! UAB finally got their logo and uniforms right last year and they are sharp! The dragon on the helmet is killer. I would love if they branded themselves as Birmingham though. BIRMINGHAM!
