Not sure how to post the link. Doesn't appear as if the idea really took off. I think they mentioned attendance of roughly 4,400. This is why I will never scoff at 20,500 (or whatever our number was). Students turn out could be much better though.

Quote:Beer at college games has become a recent trend across the country. More than 32 programs have started doing it the past two years, including four in the Mid-American Conference, of which EMU is a member. Ohio programs Akron, Bowling Green, Kent State and Toledo have sold beer at games.

Jeeze, what's next, paying the players?

Another sad day at EMU. They start beer sales and attendance drops from previous game.

Quote:NCAA.org Football Bowl Subdivision teams have to meet minimum attendance requirements (average 15,000 people in actual or paid attendance per home game), which must be met once in a rolling two-year period.

Quote:The average home game attendance in the last five years is .......xxxx.... 6,628 at EMU.

I think cheer leader lap dances would be a money maker.

Yes. They can't rely on just beer. Plus, they'll need to make LOW beer prices.

Bob: Hey, let's go to the Emoo game today. They serve beer now!

Tom: Really? I'd rather watch it on ESPN3 while the big games are on my TV, but yeah -- beer? Hell yes. OH WAIT. How much?

Bob: Oh, standard stadium prices.

Tom: Fvck that. Let's just drink Busch here in my apt and watch it on ESPN3. A lot less trouble, a lot less money.

Bob: True that! Go UM!

I have to at least give them credit for trying. I always felt for their real fans who supported in the face of scUM's shadow looming over them.

I had always thought they'd still get a lot of tailgaters, kind of like how a large portion of the WMU student body will tailgate but many won't actually show up.

If we played them on a Saturday I'd probably go just to check it out but it would probably actually depress me.
(Wait why is EMU hosting on a weeknight when it's so hard for people to get to MAC games on weeknights?)

Because nobody goes to them anyway! Pepsi cans don't have a girlfriend & homework to go home to anyway. :)
