I like this place and setup much better than last years Aurora event.

Frazier chatting it up on the phone about negotiating figures that they (the other party) would be comfortable with.

More NIU fans already here 15min before the doors open than the Chicago event last night.

New contract in the works for Carey.

How it was brought up it seems to be on buyout protection for NIU.

Looked like 50-60 people there (didn't count though), not counting coaches or cheerleaders. Seemed like pretty decent turnout to me. Nothing earth-shattering from the standard comments by the various coaches. Good event overall I thought.

66 were said to be signed up. I have no idea if there were any walk ups. Definitely more people showed up tonight than last years Aurora event.

Food: Not as refined as the Foundry last year but adequate for a sports related event at a cost of $10. Cheese burgers (some slightly pink in the middle) slider size, bbq pork slider size, wings (didn't have any), something that looked like Pretzel bites, bruschetta which was satisfactory, chips guacamole and salsa were also available.

Beer: I am not that much of a drinker but had one when I arrived...Prairie something...it was kind of blue moonish but not as fruity. I received a free drink coupon from an admin so I tried a beer with Wheat in the name. I enjoyed that one much better than the first.

Facility: I think other than a few minor issues like lighting, ac temp and microphone malfunctions everyone was impressed with this location. I see more things happening here in the future.

Non sports NIU Gossip: HSC is the priority for being renovated asap. Lincoln is on the want to demo list.

Raffle prizes: 2 sideline passes to UNLV, 2 tickets to Murry St, 2 MBB season tickets, 2 VB season tickets (I won), JL lunchbox (HuskieHog won), team signed football, NIU golf balls and some Joliet summer camp...there may have been one or two more. Tickets seemed to have sold better than the past few nights.

HCS?

I feel like he meant HSC. for Holmes Student Center, but I'll let him respond.

Correct

The idea/hope is to get a real restaurant (chain) in there and also improve the hotel so it improves the income of the building while attracting people to it with other activities.

Also...

The Lucinda extension project should get started in a week or two. There were some minor hold ups which have delayed the project a few weeks. They are hoping its done in Early/Mid October I guess by Homecoming weekend but they should definitely be finished by the IHSA championships on Thanksgiving weekend.

Athletics printed a new large 3 sectioned poster with the master plan rendering on it and it includes the new field. Based on the wording difference from the signing day event to this event I would say we should get an announcement of the opening of major fundraising and likely long term (10yr) suite pre-sales by the home opener if not earlier. I hope it is earlier to maybe generate a bump in attendance for the UNLV game.

The VCB was there with a table full of NIU stuff. They didn't have the shirt I wanted in my size so I just bought a medium sized NIU football for my kids. I was surprised at how much they brought.

Victor E Huskie was there. That was nice since pup clubs kids got in for free but I don't think there were any.

AM 560 had a table giving out their small swag.

The Alumni Association supplied yard signs that the cheerleaders handed out at the door at the end of the event.

The Men's Soccer and Women's Volleyball coaches stressed that they want to schedule the best OOC and RIP to give them any chance of getting an at large bid in case they don't win the conference title.

The new baseball coach is a big dude. I thought he was one of the football coach's.

Coach Singler had an arm sling on...that's right an injury update on a coach

Anyone notice the tennis coach mention there will be 3 new tennis indoor courts on campus? I know there was a new indoor complex being built as part of the Master Plan for Olympic sports, so was wondering if he let it slip that this may be the first project? Or are they building these 3 courts elsewhere?

I believe they are using the Chick Field House. Its on the master plan (see item 15) and I believe it was mentioned by someone in athletics a few months ago.

I'll get excited if that area #3 has activity on 11/30/15. (That's the Monday after IHSA Championship weekend.)

I don't think we are that close to ground breaking at all. Don't get me wrong I would love that but I think we are going to have 1 full year minimum of pre selling suites, indoor club, lodge seats and outdoor club seats before ground is broken.

Boise St started selling their skybox in 2005, started building it in 2007 so it could be ready for 2008. I think that is exactly the same timeline we should expect...unless you have the funds to get it done earlier that is! Granted SF may have been selling this since late 2014 and our skybox will cost less than BSU did so we may be able to cut it back to 2017 but I don't think it will happen by then.

I am very confident that it will be up for the home opener vs Utah in 2018. No idea about the South Bowl though.

I think the south bowl is the last thing in the stadium that should be done. It's awesome and I hope it gets done eventually, but it's not needed at this point.

East side and west side renovations come first.
