Dorsey spoke about seventh-round pick, receiver Da’Ron Brown

“You have a size guy with big hands that can catch the football, can work inside. Of course, every young receiver is going to need varying degrees of improvement in terms of route running, but from the person wanting to be really good from the ability to physically catch the football, I really liked him and I was very happy to get him in the seventh round because again, he's one of those guys that comes in and competes and he adds competitive depth to that position."

Boy, I think he is dead on! Absolutely. Brown has good physical skills, and by all accounts, a strong desire to get better. However, he has a lot of work to do on his route running. Now that he is no longer a student athlete, I can feel freer to say, boy a receiver that runs good routes can make a QB look a lot better, as opposed to one that runs poor routes can make a QB look bad.

Inconsistent routes to the average fan makes the QB look inconsistent, and it's maddening. I hope the prospect of sticking at the NFL level will get Da' Ron to work on those critical skills-- consistent route running.

Very happy to see him drafted. His numbers could've been off the charts last year with better deep-ball throws. Not hating on Hare--it's just the truth. Dude is always open.

It's not hating if it's the truth. Even those who like Hare know that Brown would've had 10+ TDs last season if he'd been a more accurate passer.

While there's no doubt Hare flat out missed Brown more than a few times, I felt that Brown had a small catch radius and didn't adjust to the ball all that well. He could have made a few more deep catches by sacrificing the want to stay on his feet, remaining in stride.

Knowing how much KC overpaid Dwayne Bowe over the years, Da Ron should do great lol

He didn't necessarily lay out for balls, but a catch radius for anything in possession routes or toward the sideline, Brown had the best radius of any NIU receiver for quite some time. I would call the long balls more of a dive radius than a catch radius.

He had pretty good body control and extended his hands very well. See a catch he makes maybe 11-12 yards up field between the LBs and Safeties against Iowa or there was a throw made by Hare in the MACC that was pretty far from his body and he was able to corral it in.

Catch radius was probably a poor choice of words. I was mostly trying to describe Browns' deep ball adjustments. Mainly his desire to stay on his feet as opposed to securing the catch.
