Ah, yes. And after they struggle to win a single game since every player with decent talent has left, will they use that as a "told ya so" moment and shut it down again?
Either way, the Alabama trustees got their wish, though it may have backfired. UAB athletics has been severely damaged. It will be hard to recruit when the threat of another shut down looms. At the same time, this threw a spotlight on the BoT and the way they operate that they surely didn't expect.

+1...I doubt CUSA even takes them back as well due to Alabama's a*shole trustees.
C-USA (and near universally, C-USA fans) has been very supportive of UAB football returning to the fold. There is no one in the conference that is recommending anything other than UAB coming back in, at the earliest feasible moment. At some point, they will be back, and C-USA will remain at 14 teams. Bank on it.
Last reports 15 hours ago, the trusties are against the football be brought back at UAB. Watts is stuck in a hard place now. If he brings football back? He is good as fire. If he does not bring football back? People will go after his head.

I'm not sure how they thought they'd get away with something like this behind the scenes, but it's certainly cast an ugly light on the entire system down there in Bama.
Quote:Watts told The Associated Press that he decided on Monday morning to reverse the earlier decision after meetings with UAB supporters continued through the weekend. He says donors have pledged to make up the estimated $17.2 million deficit over the next five years if football is restored.
Quote:Watts says they have dropped an indoor practice facility from that equation, but are still raising about $13 million toward a turf practice field and new fieldhouse.
