Thank goodness it has finally happened! I've seen KSU get "beat out" for the second seed by a MAC West Division team with a worse record, but it won't happen any more. Also, the Top 4 Seeds will get byes to the semifinal rounds and the Top 2 will no longer go straight to the quarterfinals......

They ended the seeding based on division several years ago. It's been based only on MAC record regardless of division for at least three years.

This change makes for a more interesting tournament week, but drastically reduces the value of the regular season. With four teams getting only a one game advantage, the battling for seeding in the last two weeks just went from intense to ho-hum.

I like it. It should bring the atmosphere back to the tournament. It does make the regular season less important which I am usually against but the place has been a morgue the last few years so they needed to do something.

I am happy they went back to old format. Thursday was the absolute best tourney day.
