Pitcher: Yes, probably for a couple of innings.
Donna: Here, drink this Poweraid. It has electrolytes and will help with the cramping.
Wayne: What flavor is it?
Pitcher: Berry Mountain Blast.
Wayne: I hate that stuff. If has to be blue, why not make it purple? I like Grape.
Pitcher: Gee, I don't know Coach?
Wayne: I wonder what went on Game of Thrones tonight?
Pitcher: Huh?
Wayne: I hear tonight's the night we get to see the White Walker's Army of the Undead.
Pitcher: Huh?
Wayne: I never know what Aryia is up to in the House of Black and White...
Pitcher: I think I have finished the drink.
Wayne: OK, remember to put something on this pitch and don't tell Hallmark we were talking about Game of Thrones. He and Van Hook hate that show.
Pitcher: Yes, Sir.
Wayne: Remember to put something on it.
Awesome David!!!

It seems hard to fault a team for following the trainer's advice to treat a medical condition. I don't see how that's even gamesmanship.
Perhaps not gamesmanship, but unconventional wisdom maybe?
Seems strange that the head coach and not a trainer would be the one to take the water out to the player. Is that where the perception of gamesmanship was coming from?
I would certainly share that perception if Wayne used this as a way to get two mound visits in one inning without pulling the pitcher, but I don't even know what inning or pitcher we're talking about. To a lesser extent, I could see that perception if Wayne just used it to get a longer talk with the pitcher than would normally be allowed, particularly if the Coogs were in a rally as they might think the slowdown had "killed the momentum".
Otto was the pitcher, and it was either the 7th or the 8th inning. I did think it was odd at the time that Donna accompanied Wayne out to the mound (though I didn't notice the water or poweraide). Also, Otto was cruising at the time, and no one was on base when they came out to the mound.
I watched the ESPN replay last night. The only time I saw the pitcher get a drink on the mound was in the 19th. The trainer brought it out. It happened quick, no delay, no rally killing stall. TV camera then flashes to UH asst coach...
TV announcers thought that Austin's hand was cramping.
