Why I Feel Positive and Negative about 2015 FB season
Positives:

Better home schedule!

A year under the belt learning the system.

A proven starter at QB without the merry go round.

Proven starters with the exception of the offensive line/TE.

Defense looks like its built on better speed and reaction time.

Negatives:

Lack of experience for depth offensive line, TE and WR positions.

Questionable secondary-will it improve this year?

What are your thoughts?

Last year's defense was an absolute sieve, look at the numbers. It will take substantial improvement just to be merely "bad." I like the offense's potential, but remember, they were also last in ppg too. Not seeing many wins this year.

I don't think there is great amount of talent or depth.

If CC wins, he will mark himself as a very good coach, the Joe Novak of the 2010s in the MAC.

That said, the second year, because second years are more telling then first years, there is potential that the team will look more efficient, regardless of talent level.

Creighton also mentioned that this is the first year that the offensive and defensive playbooks have stayed the same in consecutive years for the first time during any player's tenure here. Couple that with all but one coach staying on staff will hopefully be advantageous. Consistency can't hurt. Especially as we've been entirely absent of it for half a decade.

I also like the hire of Bullocks as an additional secondary coach. He's had successful experience. Let's hope it pays off.

I think a 3-4 win season is still a possibility. What I would like to see more competitive play especially against MAC teams. We saw what the potential could be with the Buffalo win and the NIU game. We need to play at the level the entire season.

As well as the two JUCO dbs. I think the JUCOs will be greatly help the depth at their positions.

Continuity is a good thing. Yes!!

I'm a believer in over and underachieving a team's talent level.

Teams which are in turmoil, have changing playbooks, etc. etc. tend to underachieve. Teams with continuity of the staff and playbook have a chance to overachieve.

I think CC will get an EMU team to overachieve whether or not it is 2015, I don't know...

Four wins? I'm interested, what 4 teams would they beat? I think being competitive and getting moral victories is really all we can reasonably expect this year.

Have you looked at the schedule? Our OOC opponents (sans LSU) are projected to be some of the worst teams in the FBS. Getting UMass and Ball state at home is nice too. Plenty of chances for competitive games this year.

I get that you're eternal troll, but at least do some research. And you aren't a fan of the football program anymore, remember?

Enlighten me. Who is Eastern beating this year as they celebrate their 20th consecutive non winning season?

RE: Why I Feel Positive and Negative about 2015 FB season
I hate predictions when I haven't even seen the team, in it's current form, play a game yet. But Army, ODU, Wyoming, Ball State, UMass, Miami, and CMU are all projected to be .500 or worse this season. Whether that holds true or not remains to be seen, but there should be several winnable games in that bunch.

Athlon projects UMass(6-6, 5-3) #2 MAC East and Ball State(6-6, 4-4) #4 MAC West.

I'll amend the statement to ".500 or worse"...does this make you happy, dear?

Both UMass and Ball State lost a number close games last season. I
expect them to be improved and should not be overlooked this year. WN's comment about Athlon was humorous especially when compared to his prognostication. Anybody that follows these Boards know I like every MAC
school except for BGSU. Back in the day, I use to hang at the Suds' Factory, date some EMU girls, and go to some great concerts in the EMU FB stadium.

Somebody has a lot of extra time on their hands. I still say Athlons is crap when you consider how little detail they give and how many factual errors they make.

Questionable secondary-will it improve this year?

What are your thoughts?

Reggie's got to stay healthy - and I think the team is better suited for his style of play as compared to Roback

I agree that team speed will improve - must stop the big play. Make the other team work for it

Big positive - schedule is very favorable - hoping September will be fun to watch
