This university just needs to get that f**tball program going... It's a shame that the marque sport diminishes the efforts of the rest of the athletic department.

Just because the football program is not what we would like it to be, does not diminish the accomplishments of our women's athletic programs. I really disagree with your statement. You are saying more people would recognize the Jacoby Trophy if the football team was MAC champs? Correct me if I am misreading, but that's the way I see it. Most MAC fans don't follow that many women's teams, and that is a shame, but it is what it is.
I am very proud of what our women have accomplished. Congratulations.

I'm talking image and not accomplishments; the accomplishments of our other excellent sports (e.g., T&F, swimming and diving, etc.) are undeniable.

Agree with you Steve. Nobody would be calling to kick us out of the conference if our Football and Swimming records were swapped over the past 25 years. Hell, if our football team had as much success as T&F or swimming EMU fans would be clamoring to move up to a Power conference.

I believe, and have for a while, that if we had a winning FB program, every complaint we have over EMU athletics would be forgotten...

Kind of like good football, good men's hoops, (very) good women's hoops, excellent T&F, excellent S&D, etc. we'd be the toast of the MAC.

We wouldn't be worrying if say baseball is in a down cycle...

As I tried to point out (but didn't do a good job): Sometimes football becomes a prism through which athletics are viewed.

At Florida State, Alabama, etc. football carries the way and hoops are almost an afterthought.

The IMAGE of EMU, period, is shaped largely by the failure of the football program. 20 years of losing casts a large shadow.
