I hope we (USM) are bowl eligible. Considering our last 3 years I'll take any bowl game at this point as it will mean at least 6 wins have taken place already.

Neither one of those kickoffs is particularly desirable.

HOD is better than last year. Last year it was at noon on Friday...the day after Christmas. At least now it's a little later and on Saturday.

Very true. espn is not concerned with attendance, only viewers. Lots of fans will be on their couch watching bowls and advertisements.

Miami Beach Bowl poohbah was quoted in the Herald after the Memphis/BYU game that neither FAU or FIU would be considered by them - they wanted 2 out of town teams

Have a link to that? I searched the Miami Herald site and did not find it.

Quote:Although Conference USA is the league of FIU and FAU — and Padilla said two weeks ago he leaned heavily on FIU athletic director Pete Garcia as he brought the game together — neither does the job of putting people in Miami Beach hotel rooms.

Most bowls want teams that have to travel cause they get kickbacks from the hotels. 10k traveling is better than 20k local.

RE: Bowl games being set
With announced attendance of 20k and actual attendance of 12k they should adopt an approach that will sell some tickets. One out of the area team that can bring some fans and one local (FIU or FAU) that might sell some tickets locally. At least try it to see if it makes a difference. They do have to deal with a bad date and time too but that was very poor attendance for a mainland game.
