Run what? The BOT said it was his choice in the first place. They even quoted the manual that said Watts, as president, does not need Board approval to start or end programs back in December.

Cautiously optimistic now.

I feel the same.

Dr. Watts has been given a lot of outs and even this, made up or not, could be considered another opportunity for him to do the right thing. Kind of silly you could kill the programs and profess that it was all you, but have to turn around and ask your masters for the reinstatement, though.

Watts isn't going to be the fall guy twice while the real conspirers hide in the shadows. Judging from what Trustee Gray said in the news a few weekends ago, I would wager Watts had the original decision made for him and he took nearly all the fallout and heat.

He has a duty and an obligation to let them know what is going on. Will those with a fetish for the intricacies of Open Meeting Laws, which are vague and meaningless in the first place, please focus on the decision versus the process?

I didn't see blue font, so I am not sure. You do realize the main issue, this entire time, has been about the process, not the decision, right? Honestly, if they had shut down the football program after an honest process (announce that it could happen, give people an opportunity to save it, hold open meetings to discuss benchmarks, work with the community and community leaders, etc) then I don't think the #FreeUAB movement even starts. At that point, we would just say, they warned us, we tried, but it didn't happen.

Since the process was flawed from the beginning and continues to be flawed, people are going to question it. Especially, when Watts repeats over and over how he is going to change the way he does things and doesn't follow through.

Watts' supposedly wanting to keep restore the programs but having to run it by BOT allows Watts to be on the side of UAB painting the BOT as the bad guys with no real proof either way...

Everyone should blow this up on social media. Watts said it's his decision all along.

Also someone find the quote from Finis where they says they never reject anything from UAB.

Blow it up. Keep the pressure on.

I just have to say, the amount of internal leaks throughout this whole ordeal is proof of just how isolated Watts has been. Seems like every single one of his moves has been blown up in the media before it happens.

Bryant, St. John, Espy, and Watts have a lot of people in Birmingham and at UAB to answer to, tens of thousands of people, who are depending on them to decide to agree for football to be re-instated at UAB.

I wouldn't exactly call Watts isolated. Shunned is a more appropriate word.

Alan Collins from channel 6 is reporting on Twitter that Jack Williams is 95% sure football will be reinstated, the announcement will be Monday, and Williams is trying to get in touch with whoever is handling UAB PR to be at Watts' side for the announcement.

They never said there wouldn't be a press conference, just that it would be announced across those other channels...

I take that as Watts was set to make a no return announcement and didn't want to have to do so at a press conference. Now that it appears he has been persuaded, a press conference may happen since he'll have good news to announce.

This. He had no intention of reversing his decision, so, of course just slither away with an email.

Now, he'll try to look like the hero and will do so with a lot of pomp and circumstance.

I don't care how he does it, but a press conference will give a true announcement to cheer. Hard to respond in unison to an email.

Even if Watts has good new, if I were him I still wouldn't do it at a press conference. There would be too many questions to answer as to why he was so stupid to do it in the first place without engaging all of his constituents first. The accurate answer is that he severely underestimated us. And he isn't about to say that out loud.

If football returns, our next objective is to see him out of the door along with all of his toadies who supported him.

Have a press conference to out the board interference?
