Ummm, I'm not certain of that. Hastert may have just taken the lead and suspecting he'd have a problem offered the payments. Where the guys receiving the funds might have a problem is with taxes he perhaps didn't pay on the funds.

I kind of remember hearing rumors of Hastert's sex allegations many many years ago(before he became speaker). Of course, much being closer to Yorkville, it would make more sense than say one of you hearing about it.

He is an awful human being, but I don't think pedophile would be correct. He was a high school teacher that appears to have taken advantage of his position to manipulate teenage students into sexual relations. Minors can not consent, even if either or both parties claims they did. Teachers assume the role of substitute parent while they are at school, so this is one of the most basic violations of that trust.

If he were an elementary school teacher that did the same thing then he would be a pedophile as those students would not have reached puberty.

The culture of corruption is so damn strong in Illinois. Chicago runs on greased palms. State jobs in Springfield are handed out depending on how many years you put in for the local political organization. And so on, and so forth..... FFS, I was once offered a date with a hot chick on the staff of a developer if I could help the developer get a railroad trestle repainted.

I am really saddened by Hastert. He is/was a good man otherwise. Those closest to him called him Coach behind closed doors, and his wife would bring lemonade to the office in the summer......
