There is an unconfirmed report on twitter that the Roger's forward has committed to UT! Hopefully that's true.

It's official! Beacham is a Lady Rocket. She was originally committed to Xavier.

The Blade has released an article confirming Tanaya's commitment to UT!

Tanaya is a huge recruit for UT womens b-ball!

Great job and kudos to the staff. I also wish to congratulate Tanaya for choosing UT and I wish her all the best both on the court and off.

Go Rockets!

Cullop seems to be going hard after the locals, I love it.

Second team all-district last season. Height all over the place from 5-10 to 6-2.

I believe she averaged almost 14 points and 13.5 boards per game last year as a Junior on a team with virtually 5 DI prospects including 2 other players going to UM. This 2015 Rogers team may be the most loaded DI girls team in Ohio HS history.

She is very strong on the inside and provides UT with much needed inside help.

Go Rockets!

You're off on the stats. She averaged 10+ points per game and 8+ rebounds per game. She had higher numbers her sophomore year playing for a DIII school in Youngstown. As you say, though, Rogers is loaded, which explains why Beacham's stats are modest.

Dwight you are correct. I do have my stats wrong.

The truth shall prevail!

I think Tanaya is a very very good addition to UT's team. Like the other posters I am very happy to see local kids on UT's teams. It's great for the fans to follow players all the way through.

Our friend Mark over at ToledoRockets.com also has listed Mariah Copeland as a 2017 verbal commit. She is a 5'08" guard from Notre Dame that averaged about 11 points a game as a Soph. last season. Another local girl stays home!

To be honest I was not aware of her verbal until I saw it on Mark's site. I thought I knew exactly where we stood on recruiting but this commitment surprised me.

She is the first verbal for 2017 and her commitment is one of the earliest ever gathered by the UT women's staff.

Go Rockets!

Lets hope she stays committed these next two years until that ink touches the paper.

Copeland and Whitmer's Maddie Brown are probably the two best long-distance shooters in the area. If Copeland holds true and becomes a Rocket she will be a fine addition to the program. Brown is going into her sophomore season as a Panther but I'd like to see Tricia go after her hard.

Now if UT can somehow convince Central's Byrdy Galernik to flip her verbal from Northwestern to the Rockets we'd really be making some serious inroads into securing that elusive local talent.

I appreciate that UT has already made serious inroads into recruiting local players. I wouldn't be a fan of coaches trying to convince a kid to flip their commit but if it happens it happens. Don't know if local talent is past this crazy peak it's been on in girl's prep ball or if the talent will keep coming but it's nice to be able to see the top players at least considering staying home.

If Cullop stops recruit local talent just cause they committed, then UT will never be a top program in the MAC let alone the midwest. Do you think coaches including Cullop just gave up recruiting Beachem and she reconsidered an decommitted on her own. And that after just two weeks of Toledo being involved she commited here. With these kids committing so early you have to continue to recruit them. Heck some times they commit before most teams have a chance to even evaluate them. Thats in all sports, but especially football and basketball. A perfect example would be Aaron Craft at Ohio State.

Sorry but that made almost no sense to me at all and seemed almost totally disconnected from my post. What was it you think I was saying and what again are you trying to say?

We've certainly been on the losing end of that equation. Nice to see us win some. Coaches are staying on top of these recruits.
