RE: Victor E Ball
I saw some good pics of the event on NIU Athletic's Twitter.

Anybody go? Any announcements?

RE: Victor E Ball
Last night on the radio show SF talked about the event.

- They will be putting out an official release on the event in another day or two.

- The goal was for the auctions (silent & live) to raise $50k and it did.

- They had about 200 people in attendance...1 athlete and 1 coach at every table. From what I could see from the pictures on twitter there were about 18 tables with up to 11 at each table. Take away the coaches, athletes and administrators and I would estimate around 160 actual donors just based on the numbers.

- SF said that he realized that the Fall is not the best time to schedule this so next year they will likely have it in the Spring.

- SF also said that next year it will likely be on campus (not sure if he meant actually on campus or just in DeKalb).

Interesting, but in the Spring is when the the Red & Black is, right? Or is that now done? Doesn't seem like they'd want to compete against that.

I do agree that having it on one of the first off Saturdays from NIU football made it a little less appealing.

Also, Spring is when season tickets and HAF donor payments are due.

The people who can do this type of thing - $500 per ticket!?! - don't have to worry about money. So it doesn't matter when they have it. those with plenty of $$ don't have to worry about budgeting & figuring out how they are going to pay for their season tix, donations to HAF AND tix to Victor E. Ball. They can afford to do whatever they want to do - unlike us peons here on the board who have to worry about the price of a gallon of gas & the fact that NIU raised parking in the convo lot by $5 this year. (That sounds stupid & nitpicky to some of you I'm sure, but some of us actually do have to be THAT careful with our money.)

Izzo was awesome. A great rags to riches story. He was extremely supportive of NIU. In addition to waiving his $45,000 speaking fee and flying his MSU plane into Sugargrove airport gratis, he bought a $1000 plus item in the auction. He also strongly encouraged everyone there to dig deep with donations to "help build the program"

Considering the whole event raised about $125k (totally an educated guess) that is huge.

Much respect to Coach Izzo
