This is coming 3 days before the announcement. I won't be surprised if Watts falls back entirely on the Carr sports report and says that it is the only correct report. Watts supposedly just told the National alumni society what was needed to reinstate football, bowling, and rifle was as of last night...4 days before the decision has to be made.

You couldn't dream up scenarios like this.

Donations have to be in by 4PM tomorrow as well I believe. He set a number after money had been raised and gives less than 48 hours to make up the gap. A nearly impossible feat. Hoping the big players have something in their back pocket.

The UAB SGA just had their meeting with Watts. The NAS had one last night and similar information was said.

Not sure on the 4PM tomorrow thing, but that is the word on the street right now . Right now it looks like Jimmy Filler's 7.5 million dollar donation is not being included. They have to make that work and come up with about 5+ million more dollars by tomorrow to cover everything. Doesn't make sense to need 10+ million for facilities just to reinstate the program. The public just now hearing generally how much money is required only a day or two before the donation deadline is very weird.

As far as the Carr Report goes, that is also just the word on the street. The timing of this news article fits pretty well with it. However, it looks like the 25-30 million range is some sort of compromise but still pretty ridiculous:

Most of the time, well all of the time these reports by Carr or whoever comes back the way the admin want. Carr 2 years ago told Appy that they should go IA, 8 years ago they told Appy to stay IAA. Just so happen it was inline with what the Admin at the school wanted. I could give more examples but they all end the same way. The Carr Group and their report is nothing more than 50,000 dollars to say what the admin want.

If the admin wanted the Carr report to say UAB had far better talent than CUSA and they needed to find a new conference, then it would say that.

Bill Carr claims, "The scope of work did not include making recommendations regarding the elimination of any UAB sports, contrary to many inaccurate reports."

Bill Carr lied today, artlessly and shamelessly.

This Carr document says the Dec. 1st announcement date "is an ideal time" because the UAB Health System may make lay-offs before this date. This sounds quite manipulative and Machiavellian and further goes to show the decision was preordained (as the decision can not stand soley on its own merits). Bill Carr and his "consulting firm" clearly can not be trusted as an impartial arbiter of college athletics.

I wish Bill Carr would have addressed the basic mathematical errors in his "analysis". A 3rd grader can find them & correct them.
