Owl Club Update
I wanted to post a quick update on the Owl Club fundraising goal of $2.1 MM. We have until June 30th, and only have $170,000 to go. I know a good number of you have already stepped up to get us this far and we really appreciate what you have done to get us one step closer to our ambitious goal. As mentioned in prior posts, we are also focused on increasing our participation numbers this year which leads me to my request of the Parliament. Instead of asking each of you to give a little more (if you feel the urge, don't let me stop you), I am asking each of you to recruit a classmate or friend to join the Owl Club at any level. We have added over 140 new members this year and I know we can find more. We have a good story to tell about our program, and the people on the Parliament are a great group to tell the story. Thank you for all of your support to date and for your continued to support. The group on this message board is making a difference.

GO OWLS!

RE: Owl Club Update
For those who have yet to give, here's a great opportunity to do so before the June 30th calendar year ends...

June 16th Challenge: #1Day1Rice

Quote:In less than two weeks, the Rice Annual Fund will take on its biggest challenge ever --- and we need your help to spread the word.

An anonymous alumnus from the Class of 1983 has issued a truly ambitious challenge to increase Rice's alumni giving rate. If 2,400 alumni make a gift of any size, to anywhere at Rice, on June 16, he will donate an astonishing $240,000 to the Rice Annual Fund.

So, mark your calendars, tell your friends and be sure to use the hashtag #1Day1Rice. Only you can help us achieve the goal, so get ready!

Heck, for this challenge, I may give another small contribution to the Owl Club or a SID.

Curious, not familiar with donation culture in US.
for a family average 100k income before tax, how much will donated to the the school each year? i mean on average.

There really is no "average". Many don't give at all...some give a token amount so they at least contribute to the overall participation rate...some choose one or two areas and give the minimum level to receive benefits/recognition....some give a sizable annual gift to one specific area (whether it be the Annual Fund, Owl Club, RBI Club, etc.)...and still others (but a much smaller number) give annually to a wide spectrum of Rice initiatives.

RE: Owl Club Update
That is great news on the $240,000 matching gift! It clearly demonstrates the focus on participation. Here are the latest stats on the Owl Club:

Additional gifts required to hit $2,200,000 Goal: $128,482.92
New Donors: 418 new donors totaling $317,645.34
Donors that have increased their gift: Over 150 (Many are Parliament Members!)

We are making our final push and have less than a month left, anything you can do to help get the word out to achieve the goal would be great! We also have an anonymous donor who has offered an $80,000 matching gift if we hit the target!
