My guess as well. Massive dropoffs from JMU to EKU and CCU, from facilities to support to budgets.

Liberty rumors didn't flush us out, so I doubt CCU has our AD's knees shaking.

I don't think any of us are concerned about JMU or need JMU as they are destineds to remain at the FCS level. I for one have zero interest in adding JMU as are many other Sun Belt fans.

That's fine. I didn't say the SBC needed JMU. Just stated that CCU and and EKU could combine their attendance and facilities and still be behind JMU.

Regardless, I don't disagree with you that JMU's admin would rather stay FCS than join the SBC. I don't agree with them (nor does the majority of JMU fans) but we've made our voice heard and it has gone ignored.

RE: Coastal Carolina and EKU to Sun Belt, NMSU full membership
I'd love to be a fly on the wall in JMU's AD and president's offices where it concerned this matter. The fixation of being at the same level as ODU, rebuffing SBC, any other working of the phones (MAC?)...what the school has and hasn't actually done, and what intensity they did anything. If JMU lets FBS pass them by...I bet there's a very interesting story in there.

I wouldn't be surprised, though, if some of these schools are just getting their names dropped to push JMU into finally making a decision. I have to imagine, since they were so strongly desired before, that that doesn't just change because of a refusal or two. You want who you want, and if they still look like the best option, why stop asking? Heck, the Big East/AAC took forever to finally nab Navy, and they apparently still ask Army.

I know I'm partial, but Coastal has achieved a lot on the field recently:

If given the green light to go to the Sun Belt, I'm 100% confident our administration will make it work (facilities, budget, etc.).

However, I've also seen where all this movement is NOT imminent just yet.

With the exception of JMU, CCU brought the most fans to Charlotte last year. Although their facilities may not currently be up to par, they have a ton of upside. That SC/NC coastal region could use a FBS team, and Myrtle Beach would be a great place for a bowl or tournaments.

I still the SBC is making a big mistake passing on Liberty, but CCU would be a good long term add for them.

Radio interview with Arkansas St's basketball coach makes it seem like a done deal. Georgia Southern's AD hinted at EKU and Coastal being added during a recent talk.

Nothing written in stone.....yet

That would put 10 FBS schools in the Carolinas. That's a little to many. UNC, NCST, SCAR, ECU, and Clemson all average above the ncaa attendance average. With Duke and Wake being the FBS private schools in the area. Do we really need App, Charlotte, and Coastal for FBS?

Coastal? Their football stadium is under 10K. Their basketball arena looks like a HS arena.

To be honest I don't know anything about EKU other than I knew I guy that graduated from there.

I would be totally shocked if the SBC added anyone this year. Next year we may see one of these get invited but before that happens they will have to show us they have a plan and the support to move up. SBC is holding one of the last if not THE LAST golden ticket to FBS so we can afford to be choosy IMHO.

That's not Coastal's fault though.

The Carolinas have even more FCS schools:
CCU
Charleston So.
Presbyterian
Wofford
Furman
The Citadel
SC State
Elon
WCU
NC A&T
NC Central
Campbell

I might be forgetting 1-2 more

About as much as we need to rename ECU "Carolina University."

I never claimed anything was definite. Just that there are rumors out there. Here is audio from an interview with Terry Mohajir.

As a native of Kentucky, part of me really wouldn't mind seeing EKU join the Sunbelt. I know that, as a school, they really have the desire to move up to FBS and whatnot. That being said, they've never really had the support behind 'em that WKU's had and that has helped WKU's climb from FCS to Sunbelt to CUSA. I hope it happens for 'em, but I wouldn't put my money on it.

Rumor is the conference invite rule will go away with a large fee replacing it.
Maybe JMU knows and Missouri ST know this and prefer staying in their basketball conference along with this option. I know it will take a group of schools but without having to switch conferences it could happen.

I think it is extremely unlikely that EKU & CCU are added to the SBC for the 2016 season.

NMSU being added as all sports makes a ton of sense but will probably be added after the 2015 football season if it happens at all.

SBC making huge mistake by not inviting Liberty. Liberty is way above EKU in every measurable attribute. Discrimination against the Flames. Pot meet kettle.

Id be OK with the MAC kicking out EMU and adding Liberty.
