Well, their net worth doesn't really mean much in defense of their intelligence, but that's a stupid comment to make. That being said, college is good at educating someone on a wide variety of subjects and perspectives, and I do think it's valuable for elected officials to have degrees. Not required, just an asset. Now, if we could only get some engineers, biologists, and computer scientists in there instead of all the lawyers.

Sean Hannity and Gleen Beck don't have degrees either.

The dumbest people I've ever met have college degrees.

Those that don't have degrees often have more practical knowledge than theoretical knowledge. They can explain how a system works - even if they don't understand the math/science behind it. They might make spelling mistakes and do other goofy things too - but they have value.

I've met a number of people with PhDs who I would categorize as "dumb as rocks." Sure, they know an extraordinary amount about a very narrow subject field but are fish out of water when it comes to any other subject or being a functional human being. Some of them can't carry on a one-to-one conversation once the topic is out of their field.

One of the worst spellers on this forum is a teacher, with presumably a 4 year degree.
