I'm retired public safety and you would be surprised at all the different hair colors/combinations and body piercings besides ears we have seen over the years. None of those candidates made it past the first interview.

This is not a new phenomenon. I first saw colored hair at Bradley University (Peoria, IL) in 1981. The girl that sat in front of me in sociology class had green hair.

Yeah, it's not unusual to see stuff like that in college. However, it used to be that upon graduation all that stuff went away as a job was needed. These days, not so much. Of course, lots of these folks we are talking about aren't going to college in the first place.

yea, I had long hair and an earring in college. Basically took that out of my ear the Sunday before my first day of work and that was it.

I would also be concerned about an active Facebook profile that has NOTHING on there. That doesn't sound like a balanced individual in my eyes.

I haven't touched Facebook in 3 years.

We look at Facebooks when we interview. That's been a problem for some in the past.
