RE: Proposed 20 Team ACC
Here's my 20 team ACC...

+++Houston, Rice, SMU, Tulane, Navy, Cincinnati

Atlantic
Florida State
Clemson
Cincinnati
Houston
Louisville

Coastal
Miami
Virginia Tech
Boston College
Syracuse
Tulane

Southwest
SMU
Rice
Navy*
Georgia Tech
Pitt

Central
North Carolina
North Carolina State
Duke
Wake Forest
Virginia

The schedule would be 4 Division opponents + 3 out-of Division opponents (1 from each division) + 1 RIVALRY

The Conference Championship would be a 4 team playoff involving home field advantage for the top seeds in the first round, and rotating a championship game between Houston, San Antonio, Charlotte, and Jacksonville.

*Navy would be football only

RE: Proposed 20 Team ACC
There should be 8 conferences of 8 schools each.

There should also be a 14 game season featuring a spring buy game against a g5/FCS squad, 7 conference games, 4 NCAA-mandated games (half of another conference), and 2 games of the school's choosing (for rivalries and/or to adjust SOS). CCG's should go away, but the conference champs should play in an 8 team playoff for the NC. The first and second runners up should play in bowl games where the first runner up hosts a bowl and the second runner up travels to another conference's bowl. Media contract should be centrally-negotiated, except each conference should control its bowl, unless a conference opts out. If a conference opts out, there should be a 50% tax on the media contract, but said conference should also get a half share of the NCAA-negotiated contract. Polls should be used to determine seeding. Records and head-to-head games should dictate conference champions. Finally scholarship limits should be increased to account for the longer season.

We are going to have to forget our grandfathers conference. The NFL is the new model. 1 league, 2 conferences, 4 divisions (pods). You are not going to get to play every team, every year. However, it does open the possibility of playing your rival twice a year. Choose your pod-mates carefully.

IMO, it would be pretty sweet if college teams played rivals H-H every year. I'd much rather see that over a litany of FCS @ P5 matchups. But, don't we see the P5 break away before this happens?
