Some USM fans think that Rice and FAU are in the Regionals and that if UAB wins that will be 3 CUSA teams in Regionals and there isn't a chance of 4 CUSA teams getting in. I will say that I call bullcrap on that. UAB beat us in the first game, so it isn't like USM didn't control it's own destiny, especially since the tournament was on USM"s home field. You win you are in, rooting against others to lose so you can get in is nonsense. Good luck to the Blazers. USM will get in or not get in on their own record.

It doesn't matter which one wins tomorrow for USM. We peed in our pants once again and will be left out of the tournament. The only way we would have gotten in was if FAU beat you twice and then won Sunday. Then, we would have had a better chance of getting in.

It's nothing against UAB. It's just that teams who weren't already set in the field of 64 winning automatic bids via tournament championships makes fewer at-large bids available. Once Rice & we were eliminated, we wanted FAU to win it to keep as many spots freed up as possible. Now that's between you & FIU, it really doesn't matter.

Believe me, there are plenty of other teams we're pulling for or against for the exact same reason.

Yeah, once I figured it out, I didn't take it personally. It's all good.

Just because UAB/FIU are going to get in the tournament doesn't mean that Southern Miss is automatically out; C-USA isn't a lock-tight "insert number here"-bid league. Depends on other conference tourneys as well and how far down the at-large list Southern Miss is.

??? You do realize CUSA is the #8th ranked conference by RPI, and that USM has a #55 RPI and #199 non-conference SoS? I can see no way they make it into the post-season at this point.

CUSA getting "x" number of teams in isn't the problem. The problem is there are only about 3 spots up for grabs now and USM is one of a dozen or so teams hoping to squeeze into one. Those are rough circumstances for a G5 with an RPI in the mid-50s. The only thing we have going for us is our record vs. Top 50 RPI schools, particularly those from the SEC.

I wouldn't be completely shocked if we got it, but I'd be pretty surprised.

I would be completely shocked if we got in, and yes, they will not let four in from the #8 conference in RPI

Big 10 is the 7th rated conference and they're probably getting 6 teams.

You are comparing C-USA and the Big Ten as equals in the eyes of the committee. I'll give you a comon' man for that one...lol

They aren't considered a power conference in baseball. It wasn't long ago that they were at best a two bid league.

The other teams on the bubble have their own issues. Otherwise, they wouldn't be on the bubble along with us. If you look at the final 10 or so choices, USM is the ONLY one with a winning record vs. the Top 50. Will that trump the rest of our negatives? Doubtful, but it's a pretty strong positive.

Granted, a couple more spots have been claimed since, but ESPN had us as a "Last 5 In" this afternoon, so it's not completely out of the realm of possibility.

Again, I don't think we get in, and I won't think we've been hosed if we don't, but considering the resumes of the rest of the candidates, I would not be utterly shocked.
