RE: Memphis hosting LaTech this season
39,000 would be one of the very best G5 averages...

You have a low self esteem problem. Mississippi doesn't average 6000 for their home SEC games.

With around 2,000 people not renewing season tickets this year, and FedEx not renewing almost 1,000 season tickets, that will put us at around 12,000 season tickets. Take away the 1,500ish student seats and that's 5,000 seats available to be purchased. I guarantee at LEAST 2,000 ole miss fans buy tickets. And a few thousand seats sit empty. That's just reality right now. It's a dark time for us..

Well at least we can't blame it on the weather. Hey. How are ya? Kinda missed ya. I'm thinking Damon's addition put a stop to the ones who were on the fence about cancelling.

What does your crystal ball tell us for FB attendance?

I can tell you that it did not put a stop to the ones thinking of cancelling.

As far as football attendance. Seeing as we have a (should be) guaranteed sell out on the schedule, we will average, mmm, my gut says 39,000. We will have 40,000+ for the Cincy game, and 55,000+ for ole miss, but I could see us losing a middle of the season game that deflates some people. And of course, losing to ole miss will deflate thousands. All in all, I'll say our season average will be 39,000!

Still no source for your BB 2000 and 1000 season tickets being cancelled. So I am assuming that this prediction is your gut feeling also.

Football attendance is a gut feeling. The basketball tickets, not so much!

Btw, UofMemphis, you're right. 39,000 would be one of the best G5 averages, but that's still 20,000 empty seats. I know there's nothing we can do about having to play in a stadium that's too large, but still. It sure would help our perception if when people turned a game of ours on, the place had 50,000+

Considering this football program just endured 5 terrible seasons, it seems incredibly short sighted and 'glass half empty' to just shrug off potentially averaging 39k this season, possibly even more...dare I say, even miserable? :-)
