Biker Gangs Involved In Waco Gunfight Issue Orders To Shoot And Kill Cops, Authorities Say

State and federal authorities distributed memos to local police warning that the Cossacks and Bandidos motorcycle gangs had been told to arm themselves and head to North Texas in the wake of last weekend's bloody shootout. Nine people were killed and 18 injured in the gun fight, which erupted at a Twin Peaks restaurant in Waco on Sunday.

Police made more than 170 arrests and confiscated guns and other weapons after the fight, which is believed to have involved up to five different biker gangs.

Law enforcement officers across Texas received memos Monday warning of possible retaliation. A bulletin posted by the Del Rio Sector Border Patrol said members of the Cossacks and Bandidos biker gangs had been instructed to "shoot and kill law uniformed law enforcement officers," according to a CBS affiliate that covers the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Other law enforcement memos obtained by the station warned of "escalating violence" and said that members of the rival gangs, both of which originated in Texas in the 1960s, had been ordered to arm themselves and head to North Texas.

A warning distributed by the Texas Department of Public Safety said the bikers were told to ignore orders from police they encountered on the way.

Waco police told CNN that they had known the Twin Peaks restaurant was a hotspot for bikers, and that uniformed officers regularly patrolled the area closely in the months leading up to the deadly melee. But police presence wasn't enough to dissuade the bikers from violence.

"We wanted our presence to be known," Waco Police Sergeant W. Patrick Swanton told CNN Wednesday. "They knew we were seconds away and going to respond. That mattered not to them ... We would encourage biker groups to stand down. There's been enough bloodshed."

In a news briefing Tuesday, Swanton noted that gangs "toned down" their threats for reprisal, although they remain a worry for law enforcement, according to Reuters.

According to The New York Times, the biker meet-up over the weekend was originally "intended to discuss bikers’ rights and how to work on issues of mutual concern," but instead collapsed into violence, with a long-standing feud between the Bandidos and the Cossacks as the backdrop.

If convicted, the gang members accused in the shooting could face the death penalty.

That's all we want them to do.

I kind of question the claim the authorities are making. Gangs don't tend to try and kill cops in a haphazard way because that leads to gangs being shut down with severe consequences.

A motor Cycle doesn't offer You much protection from a Police car ramming You off the road. Not sure how accurate your shot is while holding onto a handle bar. You can't out run police radio or a helicopter.

I won't lie, I thought real biker gangs were a thing of the past.

When I think biker gang I tend to think a bunch of people in leather pretending to be hard riding in a cancer parade.

If you ever go into a place and see bikers with a "1%er" patch, get out ASAP

Yea,

Biker gangs are alive and well. I've seen Outlaws in Florida, and Pagans and others here in PA. The 1% mentality is still around.

That one is new to me.

It's rarely seen anymore.. Usually if you see the 1% patch you're in the wrong bar to begin with.. But it's like a snake, don't go fudging around with them and they won't fudge you up.

DPS has all Tac Teams on alert all weekend. Bikers won't likely be pulled over unless Back Up is present.

back in the day they had a drag strip event sponsored by a NASCAR like sanctioining body. Things got out of hand and in corporate speak the governing body said 99% of the bikers were law abiding people. Now they sell a patch of 1% meaning you are the 1% that are not law abiding.

That's the gist of it.. Basically if you have the 1% patch you're an outlaw, thug, menace to society, etc.

It's a rarely seen thing.. There are MCs that do nothing but get together and ride.. then there are the MCs that are 1%ers.

We have an MC in our county that is for recovering addicts. They do some nice things in our community and it's a good outlet for them. I guess with all things people are sometimes stereotyped. They even have a % patch they wear that signifies they are sober and recovering addicts.

The Hell's Angels have a compound in the Charleston area and supposedly own numerous properties in the Charleston and Myrtle Beach area.

There is also a Warlocks and Pagans presence, along with the minor "support" clubs.

Biker gangs are considered the source of meth moving east in such a rapid fashion. I know in one of our training classes a DEA agent said that you could just about overlay a graph showing an increase in membership in 1% club membership and the increase in meth raids.
