Mom or Dad.......

Probably a H no.

Brother or Sister?

Maybe but the crime would have to be really bad. Murder or Molestation.

Now the real tough one.

Son or Daughter.

Here, if you turn one in you have to admit your faults as a parent. You've failed. I'm very very sympathetic to the Duggars here. I've never watched the show nor do I like to see bad things happen to people. What a horrible thing. As a matter of fact. If my son or daughter did a horrible thing my instincts would be to ice him or her like Lenny in Of mice and men. What a horrible thing. Feel bad for all involved.

Admitting failure wouldn't stop me from turning him/them in. Wondering if it would make things better or worse would.

Putting a child molester behind bars doesn't stop the last child from being molested... it merely stops the NEXT child from being molested. Putting them behind bars certainly does it, but it isn't the ONLY way, and obviously people have far more faith in their own abilities to stop things than 'the system' when it comes to close family members.

Lenny couldn't help it. Lenny couldn't learn wrong from right. Lenny would have done it again because he couldn't really understand that it was wrong.

Yes, it's a horrible situation... but just because he didn't go to jail doesn't mean he didn't stop doing it. ALL SORTS of 14 year olds don't go to jail for crimes, and don't repeat them. SOme who do, get let out and do even worse.

I'd turn them in quick if the alternative was me being charged with aiding them.

Depends on the crime.

I don't Even want to think about myself in the Duggar's Dad shoes. What a hard choice. This would have to be the worst situation for a parent. Family is everything to me.

Depends on the crime.... shoplifting, probably not, unless it's a recurring problem. An adult hurting a child, I would turn them in every time. Those are examples at both ends of the spectrum but if it's severe enough I have no problem sending them away.

It depends on the "crime". If it entails violation of the principle of non aggression?....YES. Otherwise...NO.

Depends. There are some things that parents tend to think they could handle themselves. Inappropriate touching in that manner, kid to kid, it's really hard to say. The amount of asses I've slapped at 11, 12, 13 would probably some type of assault if they wanted to make a big deal out of it. My mom would've tried to handle that in house.

My parents would have ratted me out in a skinny minute.

I love my children more than life itself, and hope like hell I'm never in that spot, but, yeah, I think I would.

Depends on the crime, the reasons behind it, the facts I can gather to make an informed decision, my closeness to the family member, and whether I think that eventually turning them in could change their lives for the better.

Family gets more benefit of the doubt that others because they are family.
