Blogging from Inside the Walls of Troy (SBC Tourney Day 3)
As I write Day 3's blog, I have to ask myself the inevitable question of "How is Troy doing so far?" No, I am not talking about the Troy baseball team, who went 2 and Q this year and leaves the University in the unenviable position of having to host 3 days of tournament, knowing there is little remaining local interest. I am however talking about putting on the tourney itself. How is Troy doing?

Today started very interesting to say the least. As I mentioned in my Day 2 blog, this morning I was approached by a Troy Athletic Official, who identified himself. Said he read my blog on the board, and apologized for the confusion over the "no re-entry rule" It was a Troy rule...but not an SBC rule, and the ticket people did not have that clarified. It was now fixed. So Two thoughts here

1. WOOO A Member of the Troy Athletic Department (and possibly other Schools) Reads Sun Belt BBS.

2. Considering I wasn't overly identifiable this week, how was he able to guess who I was?

Either way...Absolute full credit to Troy for proving they listen to the mentions of a worthless message board poster. There are many schools who would probably ignore me as a disgruntled and meaningless fan.

As for the games:

1. Goodbye Georgia Southern, you will be missed. The Eagles looked listless offensively in a 6-1 loss to Arkansas State. That said...great visit with a couple Eagles fans on the way out. All seemed to agree that the Eagles will get better, and that this matchup had nothing on the upcoming 2016 War that is our first football meeting.

2. I will forever say Troy's biggest mistake this tournament was not playing an afternoon game Wednesday. I know it hurts crowd, but which is more important for your school? Bringing in fans, or bringing in wins? Ultimately, the Trojans were done in by a poor pitching perfomrnace, and their losses were sure to delight Jags fans everywhere

3. I met a board member today before the Jags game. He is a registered user here who posts infrequently, but does post. Great guy, and we had a nice 5 minute visit about our schools before they opened the gates for the Afternoon Session'' Again I was recognized immediately. Maybe I am wearing a big sign that says "LOOK AT ME, I'M CHIEFSFAN" Before next tournament, I think I'm going to bash people to their face and introduce myself as AtlantaTrojan. Just for fun you know

4. Full Props to Texas State, not only for their performance this tournament, but for their work preparing for the next tournament. The Bobcats, who host the 2016 tournament, brought a full Athletic Delegation just to witness how Troy does it, while taking notes about what changes to make before next year. Good Work Cats!

As for the rest of the day:

I was still feeling queezy from last night's adventure at the Waffle House, so I skipped breakfast this morning, and settled for a calm Subway for lunch. One of the workers immediately recognized my shirt as a "Red Wolves shirt" Hey Astate Branding, you're still working! The Subway was clean, but small, and had about 5 parking places. That's not ideal. After an hour nap, I went back out and watched both evening games. Rather than eating out tonight, I chose to use Troy Concessions as a light dinner. Concessions are not great, but decent. C Plus.

Tomorrow is an important day in the history of the blog (ALL 3 Days WOO) Not only does AState face elimination tomorrow, which could lead to a short trip for me, but the 3:00 first game gives me the ability to actually get out and explore Troy a bit in the morning. I am really excited to tour what the Visit Troy brochure calls "The Places to visit in town" You know...The University of Troy, the Troy Library, the Troy Megaplex (That must be an awesome movie theater), and the Troy Sports Park. I also plan to visit a local establishment tomorrow for the first time. Games running long the first two days eliminated my chance of going to those earlier.

Side note, but did you know that Gas Stations in Troy often close before midnight?

Till Tomorrow everyone. Let us hope that AState lasts a long time, so I can get MORE BLOGS!

There is just something about us Arkansas guys. Get out of state and we stick out like sore thumbs...or something.

At least 4 gas stations in Troy are open 24 hours. The closest one to campus is open 24 hours. How many gas stations do you need after midnight?

I'm not a Troy fan because of wins and losses.
