RE: 2015 NCAA Women's Tennis Championship
A double fault and netted drop shot puts Natalie down 15-40. She gets the next point, but Lohan breaks serve with a passing shot down the line on Natalie's backhand side.
Lohan holds her serve with five points, the last being a frame shot by Natalie. 1-4 in the second set.

And now down 4-1. Complete reversal from the start (2 points for Natalie vs. 11 for her opponent). I'm not seeing every shot, but she's really struggling with shaping her shots. She fouled off her last point to lose the game - it just went somewhere high and wide.

RE: 2015 NCAA Women's Tennis Championship
Natalie loses her serve in four points on a double fault ... after a Lohan winning passing shot and an unforced error by Natalie. 1-5 in the second. Natalie must break to prolong the match.

5-7, 1-6.
In general, Natalie was the aggressor and often had Lohan running back and forth. But she just made too many mistakes: balls just out, returns into the net, double faults etc. Great season and career, though! Congrats!!!

Rough day today but still a magnificent Rice career. Many thanks to a job well done.

RE: 2015 NCAA Women's Tennis Championship
In winning two matches, Natalie progressed farther than any of the nine non-P5 conference school competitors in the field. (Sophie Watts of Fresno State was the only other non-P5 player to win a match.)
The eight quarterfinalists come from Miami (2), UCLA (2), Florida, North Carolina, Stanford & Virginia.

RE: 2015 NCAA Women's Tennis Championship
And, as has been her practice for a few years now, Coach Schmidt sends another gracious and well-written recap to fans:
Quote: Date: Fri, 22 May 2015
From: Elizabeth Schmidt
Subject: NCAA Singles Championships Update
Dear Rice Women's Tennis Alumni & Supporters,
Natalie Beazant's run in the NCAA Singles Championships came to an end today with a 7-5, 6-1 loss in the Sweet 16. While we are sad to see her career come to an end, we are very proud of Natalie for everything she has accomplished the past four years as a Rice Owl. Her list of accomplishments goes on and on, but what is most impressive is the way that she has done it all. Always with an infectious positive attitude and a fighting spirit, she has poured her heart and soul into Rice tennis. She treated teammates, coaches, fans, support staff, and opponents with the utmost respect. She always appreciated the opportunity to represent Rice University and showed immense pride in both our program and school.
We are extremely grateful for Natalie, for her contributions to Rice, and for the everlasting impact that she has had on our program. We wish her well as she starts a new chapter of life back in England and we know that she is going to continue to positively influence the lives of those around her.
Finally, as today marks the end of our 2014-15 season, we want to thank all of you for your constant support. It has been another memorable year for our program and we know would not be where we are today without all of you. We hope you have a great summer.
Go Owls!

She does these all year, often (it seems) late at night, presumably after just getting back to campus from a day of travel. She's really impressive -- one of the best coaches Rice has ever had in any sport.

+1. And for those of you who have never met Elizabeth or spoken to her, she's intelligent (as you'd expect from a Stanford grad), articulate, down to earth, driven and funny...and she genuinely appreciates the support from Rice students and alums. Women's tennis is in good hands for years to come.

Sigh.
She's a UCLA grad, not a Stanford grad. Go Bruins.
