Australia Bowl looks like it is happening in 2016

Appears to be the Pac 12 will be one of the tie-ins. Wonder if MWC or a P5 will be the other. ACC could use another tie in if they are willing to put it up above the lower tier bowls of Detrioit, Indy, Military and St. Pete.

I have to say, add that to my sports bucket list. That would be a fun bowl trip.

It's the MW.

I have been to a footy game at the G when it was packed to the brim. It remains one of my all-time favorite sports memories and I spent over two decades covering major college pro sports before growing up. Melbourne is an awesome destination and surprisingly easy to reach by plane from most sections of the US.

Great for the kids, sucks for their parents unless travel is subsidized, sucks for the fans.

Yep. Should keep the MW at 2-3 bowls versus the P5 each year

Ugh. Why Melbourne? This is such a missed opportunity!!!!!

If there was a bowl game in or near Sydney near New Years, that would be an EPIC vacation/bowl. You'd get to see the world's BEST fireworks display*. You'd get warm warm weather in the middle of the winter. You'd get to see one of the world's great ports and great cities. And you'd get to see your team play somewhere exotic. It's a once-in-a-lifetime kinda thing.

* Skip to 3:30 ... and get your mind blown. Yea, they're lightin' the harbor up with 7 barges, the bridge deck, the bridge superstructure, uber projectors on the bridge piers, and the roofs of skyscrapers downtown. And the fireworks have microchips in them so they are in *perfect* unison with the music, which is Mahler's 8th Symphony as conducted by Gergiev. Anddddddddd I now have a semi.

Melbourne is the sports capital of Australia. And I love everything you do for us, Swagger. But you do realize that bowl season is in summer Down Under, don't you?

Honestly if you are already making the trip all the way to Australia it would be smart to make the additional expense and time to go to Sidney as well. It is only about 545 miles which is a long tip but it can be done. Seriously would you do a 30+ hour flight to go to Australia and only do one place and thing? No way you would make a full trip out of it while you could and do as much as you can because you may never go that far again.

Yes, that's why I'd said you'd get warm weather (there) in the middle of the winter (here).

I like how that flows. It's like Thriller/a in Manilla.
