He has been given plenty of outs by various entities, and the CSS review itself gave him enough room to gracefully renounce his decision. I just wanted to know if there was a specific excuse or reason he's providing so we could make a concentrated effort to dismantle his lies, but, now that I think about it, I suppose it could just be more of the same grandstanding and hypocrisy.

At any rate, I'll start on personalized emails to every person on the list.

Self preservation.

My guess is if he reinstates football, he's immediately fired since he's admitting that he created a very costly boondoggle.

If he doubles down, he can continue saying he did the unpopular, yet necessary "right thing."

It's really the opposite. The only people who can fire him want him to stand his ground and not reverse the decision. He will be fired/pushed out if he reinstates football, I would presume. There will be immense pressure either way, because if he brings it back then it shows he's ineffective at doing what he wants and has effectively cost UAB $10 million and has nothing to show for it. If he doesn't bring it back then he's shown that in the face of overwhelming evidence and support of campus constituencies, he's going to be Finis St. John and Joe Espy's lapdogs. Either way, he is in an untenable situation.

Maybe, but this is how this state conducts its business unfortunately. UAB is just in the cross hairs this time.

This isn't "the state's" doing. The state may put up with it, but it boils down to Bryant, Espy, and St. John want it this way.

Things seem to be slowing down. Not sure what, if anything, that means.

Well, you can only state something so many times.

Just waiting on the next piece of info. I've diligently emailed the people on the list. I hope everyone else has. I have no idea if it has any impact but it was somewhat therapeutic to do so.

Fair enough. Just seems there's a lot of action today with little commentary on impact/outcomes. Filler with Watts, John Johns with business people, etc.

BamanBlazerfan has repeatedly disproved that theory.

Not gonna deny I laughed at that.

But one thing I distinctly remember when Tulane went through something similar in 2003 is how the whole process caused us Greenies to turn against each other and take verbal shots at those who wanted the same thing (continuation of FBS football and Division I athletics) but didn't say it the same way, or the "right" way, and how the absence of specific, reliable information was a breeding ground for the worst kind of gossip and insults among Tulane people. Sorry to see Blazers going through that now (and for the past 6 months). Hope this will have a happy ending for you, and soon.
