Fox News rules will limit the field in first GOP presidential debate.
Who gets left out?

The network will require contenders to place in the top 10 in an average of the five most recent national polls in the run-up to the event, narrowing what is expected to be a field of 16 or more by the Aug. 6 event in Cleveland.

I like the idea. There are some contenders who are not serious about a national campaign, ubt just want to use the debates to further their name, cause, or their possible VP status. If you want to participate in the debates, you need to be a serious candidate.

Good news, IMO. Should keep out some of the stalking horses (Graham, Santorum).

I add Huckabee to that list.

I would as well, but he'll be in the top ten. Can't keep all of them out.

Not in the debates unless he can gain some traction this summer.

This should be it. Jeb Bush, Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas.

I see big fields as a good thing because it shows diversity in thought, but honestly.....

With that group, Jeb runs away with it being the only one that looks sane.

Rand just filibustered for 10 hours to stop the renewal of the Patriot Act. INSANE!

Marco Rubio and Scott Walker are completely "sane." What exactly are you referring to? The fact that you may not agree with their positions?

The liberal smear campaign begins.

Of course they are sane. I actually like Rubio and Paul.

The problem is that you know darn well the republican base is not going to vote in big numbers for Rubio because of the drink of water fiasco and of course because he is brown.

Rand Paul is a better choice but the guy flies off the handle whenever he gets a question he doens't like. No one is going to vote for that.

That is exacly it. Christie (whose weight issues and behavior scream mental illness) and Bush are the only 2 progressives in the field. That is who the democrats are pulling for. Of course, they won't actually vote for either and their nominations would cause many conservatives to stay home.

You just said that Jeb would be the only one in the group that would look sane. Then you said "of course they are sane" and that you like Rubio and Paul......

The drink of water fiasco isn't a fiasco. The dude had a drink of water. It won't sway any votes and if it does, those people shouldn't be voting because I doubt they can read the ballot in the first place.

Rand doesn't "fly off the handle" he just calls out stupid questions. I wish they all would.

No, they won't vote for him in large numbers because he is an amnesty peddler. I don't know anyone that cared about the sipping of water.

I bet he has more money than Santorum did in 2012.
