If guilty, I hope they spend a long time in prison. These thugs had it good and just had to act like the criminals they are evidently. Good riddance. They won't be missed. I hope Monken has better judgment in the players he is recruiting now.

Hattiesburg Police Department spokesman Lt. Jon Traxler said that Cox and Foster were arrested and charged with armed robbery, kidnapping and burglary of an occupied dwelling.

Traxler had no other details at this time.

"We have been made aware of the situation and we are continuing to gather information at this time," Southern Miss spokesman Jack Duggan said in a prepared statement.

Cox played in 11 games as a sophomore for the Golden Eagles last season, starting three. He had 15 catches for 219 yards and two touchdowns last season.

Foster, in his first year with the Golden Eagles, played in nine games as a junior last season, starting five. He finished with 12 catches for 168 yards and no touchdowns.

James Cox seemed like a good kid. He was always one of the guys hosting recruits when they came in for visit .

Most kids are so happy to be out of the world of poverty and crime that they aren't going to screw up because they know the consequences of going home and often time it is the first time in their life they are getting three good meals per day every day, first time they can walk in to the place they live in the afternoon and be sure the lights will come on and the water will be on.

I undersand that but unless you want to change and put the effort in to do so you will fall back to where you come from.

Rakeem Cato, Tommy Suler chose to change for the better, coming from the worst part of Miami you can think of. Stewart Butler chose to keep his hood mentality and it finally came out.

It took Cato about 2 years to really change and it took the entire coaching staff and a lot of upperclassmen to get him in a good mental state. When he arrived at Marshall he had all the talent in the world but he also was angry at the world. All it would have taken was one spark to have set him off.

My statement still stands. You can change if you want and put an effort in. If not your hood mentality will shine though before your time is up. And it happens everywhere at every level.
