SBC Baseball Player, Freshman, Pitcher, and Coach of the Year
http://sunbeltsports.org/news/2015/5/19/...50838.aspx

All awards given were decided by a vote of the conference’s 11 baseball head coaches. The end of season awards were handed out Tuesday night at the 2015 Baseball Championship Family Night at Riddle-Pace Field in Troy, Ala.

The Ragin’ Cajuns led all teams with six total selections between first- and second-team All-SBC, two coming on the All-SBC First Team.

Georgia State and South Alabama each had three selections on the All-SBC First Team. The Cajuns placed four on the All-SBC Second Team with the Troy Trojans posting three on the Second Team.

SBC Player of the Year

Cajuns' Blake Trahan was named the Player of the Year. Trahan, the 2013 Freshman of the Year, hit .332 on the year with a .448 on-base percentage, which ranks fourth overall in the league. He scored 45 runs on the year and had 69 hits. His runs scored rank fourth and hits sixth in the league. He committed only three errors in his final 41 games.

Trahan is the only player in the Sun Belt named to the Golden Spikes Award Midseason Watch List.

Trahan’s Player of the Year award marks the first back-to-back honors for the same team since 2010-11. Last year, Jace Conrad earned Player of the Year honors for the Ragin’ Cajuns.

SBC Freshman of the Year

Cajuns’ Gunner Leger claimed the Freshman of the Year award after leading the Cajuns and finishing seventh overall with an ERA of 2.90. Leger finished the season with a 6-4 record in 14 games started. He struck out 70 batters and walked 15 in 87 innings. Leger is the second Cajun to be named Freshman of the Year and is the fourth pitcher in the last five years to be named Freshman of the Year.

SBC Pitcher of the Year

South Alabama’s Kevin Hill was named the league’s Pitcher of the Year.

Hill, a senior right-hander, led the Sun Belt with nine wins on the year and a 1.79 ERA in 80.2 innings pitched. He allowed opponents to hit a Sun Belt low .197 against him in his 11 appearances. Hill allowed just 19 runs on the year while striking out 92 batters.

Hill, a 2015 Preseason All-SBC First-Team selection, became the first Jaguar to be named the Pitcher of the Year since P.J. Walters in 2006.

SBC Coach of the Year

South Alabama’s Mark Calvi was named the league’s Ron Maestri Coach of the Year.

Calvi earned his second Sun Belt coaching accolade in the last three years after guiding the Jaguars to a Sun Belt regular season title and an overall record of 34-19. Calvi’s squad had an eight-win improvement on last year’s conference record as the Jaguars posted a 19-9 record in 2015 compared to an 11-18 record in 2014.

Calvi’s Jaguars were picked to finish seventh in the preseason coaches’ poll and will be seeking their first Sun Belt tournament title since 2005.

Paiz, tearing it up in the tournament doesn't get a nod. Probably pissed at the snub.

He's probably not the only one who's "pizzed". Goes with the territory.

Based on regular season numbers he didn't deserve a spot ... no snub there
