Wow. Putting some teeth into that basketball scheduling deal, huh? That's got to be seen as a positive based on a lot of discussion here

Good defensive moves against CUSA poaching. It'll make teams sit and and watch the new cusa tv contract before up and leaving.

Yep. And adding teams that can afford to absorb that 2 mil hit. There's only 1 team I know of who is going to jump at that...

That was my initial thought as well

I believe 2 million was the entrance number previously told to UAB, so change must have been planned.

RE: sbc press release
There was discussion on how each individual school would approach these issues and agreement that cost of attendance be addressed on the school level

Is anyone not going to pay it?

I would say just about everyone in IA will be paying COA. If not you will fall even further behind.

1. Why would you increase the entry fee? Talk about a disincentive to join the conference now.

2. I guess they wouldn't talk about Idaho in a press release like this.

Liberty can pay.

Actually, it's a realization that the Sun Belt may hold the last Golden Ticket to FBS and any school that wants to claim it better be prepared to ante up.

Well, if that is the case, nobody is moving to the Sunbelt except Liberty. No other FCS school will be able to afford the entrance fee or any non football school because there is no revenue from the conference to be able to offset that cost.

What was the exit fee before it was raised to 2-2.5 mil?

Also the 2 mil entry fee I think can be paid over 2-3 years so it isn't t that much of a disincentive for a school to join.

If you are adding a football member, there is no disincentive. CFP will kick in another $1 million to the league. Paying over three years you get a small amount from the league the first three years then a full share. Even if you pay over 2 years you will get a little bit those years. It is in line with the cost recovery time line FIU and UNT had joining CUSA.

Anyone who can afford to reclassify FCS to FBS can afford it.

If you aren't a football playing school then you have to be very motivated to join.

Think it went to $1.5 million.
