Tulane cancels 2016 game @ Miss State
Glad to see that our inferior lap dog Athletic Director has withdrawn from an agreement to play in Starkville for the 2016 season. Tulane will pay $350,000 to MSU for canceling the game.
I do not understand why this was done, especially in light of the fact that the conference as a whole needs to improve the OOC scheduling?

Let's hope so! By 2016 our 18 & 19 year old kids will be in a much better position to make it a competitive game & MSU will have a new QB.

Dickson is not smart enough to get a "big fish."

For us Miss State is a HUGE FISH.

Just another incompetent act by our incompetent AD.

He'll likely schedule U Mass instead. Fire Dickson now, he is a continuing disaster bent on destroying Tulane.

The AAC should scold and publicly embarrass us for canceling an SEC opponent.
It is even worse considering our long, long history with State. Dickson has undoubtedly destroyed what it took over 100 years to nurture.

FIRE DICKSON NOW ! !

Whatever the reasons may be I think is good to see someone from this league take a stand... I mean, what would of been said had Miss St. cancelled Tulane.

How is paying $350k to avoid a long time regional rivalry game "taking a stand"?

We already had an open home date, explain it now?

1. You never cancel if you don't have a backup plan

2. "Stand" Miss St. demands may have gotten a little over their heads and Tulane may have just gotten enough of it.

3. Paying $350k vs going bowling?? Hmmm, could we say $350k X 2-3 = You fill in the blanks.

There's a not just a backup plan, but a better plan. A home and home with a P5. Just don't know who yet.

Quote:Tulane canceled Mississippi State game to negotiate contract with 'attractive' new opponent

Quote:Tulane officials are working on a football contract with a "large scale" unnamed university and that's one reason why the Green Wave canceled out of its Sept. 24, 2016 game at Mississippi State, Tulane executive associate athletic director Brandon Macneill said on Monday.

"There is a lot of positioning out into future years that come into play so it's not really just to fill that spot," Macneill said. "It's a domino effect of a bunch of different things moving out. Hopefully now that this has happened, those dominos will start falling very fast and then I can speak about (the future opponent). I just can't speak (about) other schools (until details are finalized), (so) they don't get blindsided by it."

TPStulane on the gotula.net website is telling us this cancellation is positive. Instead of a $350,000 pay day for Tulane from the Bulldogs , we are scheduling another team for a $1.5m pay day. Will keep Ole Miss on our schedule. I do not know what team but not SEC. I was not happy when I heard at first but for an extra $1.1m I am happy now.

Looking forward to good news!
So we don't have to grab our ankles and take a low payout (1 for 2) like a BI*CH.

Was this game just a 1 and done road game? If that is the case I can't blame them if you can get a P5 Home/Away setup. Seems like Tulane isn't doing too bad with Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, Duke and Ole Miss on the future schedules. Maybe they are finally getting the LSU series back on the books.

If Tulane could once again schedule LSU annually and prove that they belong to be on the field, it will do wonders for in-state recruiting credibility. Unfortunately, LSU understands this as well....

This was game 7 of a 7 game deal that was signed in 1998. This is a good deal for Tulane to cancel this game.

Jim Harbaugh used Tulane to get more $$$$ from Stanford. He is now paying Tulane back by playing us in Ann Arbor.

Back in the day, as TPS says, we played Notre Dame regularly. It could well be the goldendomers.

Why are you posting this Tulane-internal stuff on this board?
Beyond belief.
Our ooc scheduling in football from a sos perspective is fine. The only thing hurting the conference is the Ls, not the opponents.
