I doubt we go with an assistant again for the next hire. Stoudamire enjoyed his time here the first go round but he was the lowest assistant. He moved up a position at AZ and will now move up and be the lead assistant back at Memphis. He'll be over the guards and defense, something we desperately need improvement in. I think our guard play and defense was the most solid of the Pastner era when Stoudamire oversaw them when he was here last.

I think so.

or pastner has already decided to move after this season and placed his buddy with that in mind. i just know the players LOVED stoudamire during his last run here.

no matter the backstory, its a great thing for memphis basketball.

I have nothing against assistants --- I mean Fuente was an "assistant" of sorts. Listening to the media it seems Stoudamire has the 'look and feel' of being a really good head coach one day. So far - this is the typical reaction on STtoudamire -- Lead sports writer at the CA - local paper >>

Bet he thinks Pastner sucks and is going to get chopped sooner or later and is hoping to be in place to take over potentially.

No they're good friends from their days at Arizona. I do think that Stoudamire is now at Memphis with the idea of becoming the next head coach --- whether it be by Pastner getting another head coaching job or being let go. I think Pastner wants out after all that has happened in reaction to not even getting a lowly NIT invite. I mean the fans did a job on him but the media almost did worse.
