I agree with 5 making it. Slightly different variation though but pretty much the same.

SMU, UConn, Cincy IN
2 of these 3 IN Memphis, Temple, Tulsa

Who knows maybe all 6 make it. Need some quality OOC wins though.

Cincinnati, SMU, UConn, Tulsa, Memphis, and Temple should once again be in the top 100 of the RPI. Can someone out of the bottom group breakthrough? Houston would be the first candidate followed by UCF and USF. I am not sold on ECU and Tulane as anything more than spoilers at this point.

At the top of the conference, UConn still has to prove they be a good regular season team. It has been a long time since the Huskies dominated the regular season. Memphis should bounce back in tournament contention this season.

Say what?

UConn was in the top 25 both years they won the national championship recently. Had great regular seasons in both 2011 and 2014, also 2009. Obviously, the idiotic ban hurt them in 2012 and 2013. I see two bad regular seasons in the last 6 years, and that's 2010 and 2015.

I know the media keeps repeating the idea that UConn came out of nowhere in 2011. But if you look at their OOC schedule, they played Michigan St, Wichita St, Kentucky, Harvard, Texas, Tennessee, and they won them all.

Outside the BE regular season, UConn's record was 23-0. They were ranked top 10 for the first half of year, top 20 for the second half, then before the tournament, they were top 10 again. In fact, the ESPN brackets (tens of millions of them) had UConn as the 4th most popular pick to win it all.

The sports media world keeps making them out to be a darkhorse in those years, but 23-0 outside the conference regular season is not an accident. Especially given the high caliber of teams.

2009 was the last elite regular season from UConn.

UConn's Conference record from 2010 to 2015

2010, 7-11
2011, 9-9, awesome preseason and post season run.
2012, 8-10
2013, 10-8
2014, 12-6, best overall season but "only" a 7 seed going into the dance.
2015, 10-8

UConn had two great runs in the tournament but for the conference to benefit from the Huskies membership their overall regular season performance has to be better. Once again this conference might have had tow more additional bids if UConn wins more two games last season. UConn themselves could have played themselves in and teams like Tulsa and Temple would have added another quality win.

I have a hard time picking UConn to be one of the top two teams in the league next year because their recent history tells me that they usually are good but not great in conference play. The American needs UConn to become a top 15 weekly program like Kentucky, Duke, and Arizona. Someone that can carry the conference on their back.

I think this league has at least 3 proven programs who are capable of carrying the load

UConn
Memphis
Cincinnati

I'm looking at you

SMU
Temple

Wut? I started this thread. lol.
It's no more creepy that I call out douches than it is that you're grinding on his caboose! I've seen that in multiple threads. The fact that you follow him around parroting him is what I find queer. You're either two sides of the same guy (Bruce Jenner?) or you're butt buddies. Either way, it matters not.

A lot of interesting metaphors in this post here, you seem to have an issue you are repressing. Good luck with that.

Weak. You really need better conditioning if that were even remotely true because playing 30 minutes in college basketball is nothing. There are players that basically never leave the court in college basketball and averaged 39 minutes a game.

Hell 37 year old 300lb players like Wilt Chamberlin played 45 minutes a game with a 24 second shot clocks and far more possessions and higher pace, not 35 seconds ones like in college at even slower pace today. They did it with 4 games a week, 1970 travel and sports recovery and in Chuck Taylors shoes for 82 games a year and another 20 in the playoffs.

It's joke any time people try to honestly say a 18 year old gets tired playing 30 games 30 minutes a game with a 35 second shot clock and a couple games a week when their decades of data of old ass men playing 38+ at almost a third or more possessions rate. Duke had 7 or 8 players on scholarship and you didn't see them complaining about minutes.

This wussy minutes restriction crap is only a recent NBA phenomenon and it's not even comparable to college playing half the games or less in about the same period and and almost half the possessions in them.

Ok double the season length and we played two frosh and a sophomore. Two of which were banged up. It's not the same. It's not just cardio it's also bulk.

Godwin was a 6' 180lb PG, Taylor was a 6-2, 200lb guard and the other guy is 6-6, 210lb wing that averaged 3rpg. It's not like they were 165lb or muscling in the post. Who the hell do you think these guys are boxing out where they need bulk? They are all perimeter players. Hell every one of them is sounds put together fine. You make it sound like they were skinny and battling Charles Oakley muscling for rebounds or something.

It's honestly a joke anytime anyone tries to use some college kid playing 30 minutes as in this college game as an excuse. These guys are 19, it's a 35 second shot clock and you played at the 151st pace in the nation. It's not like you were even a very fast team. If 19 year olds can't play 30 minutes a couple times a week without being "gased" or whatever cliche you used they need to get to the doctor or to fire the person that does your conditioning. There are 35 year olds that play a hell of a lot more possessions and minutes in the pros twices as often every week and it's non issue.

For what it's worth, I'm offended by the term "Butt Buddies". I prefer you use "Fanny Mates". 04-cheers

One big key for bids will be improvement at the bottom of the conference. I think some of the dregs will be much improved this year. Also, we have our conference spring meetings next week I believe. Hopefully we will discuss minimum scheduling standards fro basketball. Hopefully, these league improvements and adjustments will be enough to make a difference for our top bubble teams in 2016.
