RE: smn1256, where is he?
There's always going to be conflict between mods and posters.. Doesn't matter..
I do take some issue with some of the stuff said..
Okla's board was never a place to "coordinate attacks" on posters here. We all didn't go there to dox posters either. Yes, it could been construed as an echo chamber, and several people have been invited, not just the "liberal punching bags".. The beauty of his place is that if an argument gets heated it can play out. Hell GTS, I'm sure Okla would gladly activate you if you were to join. We've had one lib poster join and we haven't attack him once. Actually the level of discourse with him has actually been civil and pleasant.
I don't mind if people on the internet know who I am, but that's where I draw the line. I'm a mod on another board and I'm very close to cutting ties on social media just because I can't post a picture of a dump I took without someone making a comment and my wife asking who the hell is that. It gets very frustrating, hence when I got here I didn't become FB friends with anyone or divulge any more than what I have to.
I do have somewhat of an issue with mods reading PMs. Because that's what they are, Private Messages.. If I want to shoot Firmbizzle a PM and say I think HoD probably has a watermelon sized head and sh*t for brains (not that I have HoD), that's our business. I didn't follow the whole WMU thing, but I believe its in another thread where GTS might've posted the link to the thread that got shut down due to posters. I read part of the thread before I lost interest and my head started hurting.. When it becomes a matter of legality or lawsuits, then yea, he should have a right to look at those who are in violation of the law.. Not random posters he believes could be doxxing people. It would be nice if a PM was sent from a mod to someone that said, hey we think you're doing something wrong, cut it out. If it continued then read the PMs.
The day of the nuclear ban, I still haven't fully understood how and why people got chosen, nor do I give a sh*t anymore.
I'm not for a panel that was suggested months ago.. I don't think bringing in a mod that doesn't post here is the answer either.. However, I believe we all should be on equal footing.. In my opinion, the mods should be held to a higher standard than just the usual poster here.. Which means if a mod violates the AUP, well the punishment should fit the crime. And there have been a few that have done so.. There's one mod that likes to stir it up and act as if they are immune to any punishment.. Luckily that mod is not a mod in the SR.. So the question begins, how do you moderate the mods? I think if enough valid reports against a mod are sent in, that person should lose their mod status. If they get a ban, don't do a weekend ban, do a ban that fits the punishment.
There are some excellent posters that are mods on other boards that could very easily fill any moderator role.. Again my opinion. Doesn't matter what happens here, the sun will rise tomorrow, I'll get up, go to work, and enjoy life. This is a time killer while I'm at work.
