Stanford Band banned banned band members from banding together on the road

I suppose that's a good thing, perhaps it will prevent semi-legal TD's from being scored and trombone players from being smashed.

They're off the Stanford administration's bandwagon.

RE: Stanford Band banned from banding together against other bands
That TD was completely legal. In fact, the officials could have awarded a TD to Cal even if Kevin Moen hadn't made it to the end zone, simply because the Stanford band was on the field obstructing the play, as when the officials awarded Rice a TD in that famous Cotton Bowl from the 1950s when an Alabama player on the bench ran onto the field and tackled the Rice ballcarrier who was on his way to the end zone.

There was also an NFL play a couple of years ago when the officials should have awarded a TD because a coach on the sidelines (Mike Tomlin, IIRC) obstructed a kick returner heading to the end zone, but the officials blew that one and didn't award the TD.

But, but, but the guy's knee was down before he made the third lateral.

Anyways, I was just messing around and more than anything wanted to make reference to the SBP.

I have probably seen The Play more often than the original Star Wars movie. The runner's knee wasn't down. But, Cal did have only 10 players on the field. Stanford had an extra player and about 50 drunken nerds who pretend to be a band on the field, and they still couldn't keep Cal from scoring. 07-coffee3

The Stanford band, man...is there anything more entertaining than a bunch of hyperentitled kids who think they're hilarious?

Wait--I said entertaining. I meant hateful.

The road ban is just for one year and they can still perform at home. But what about neutral sites aka NCAA Tournament?

Attended the ND @ Stanford game one year, somewhere in the 1990's and the Stanford band made fun of the Irish potato famine. The Irish did not allow the Stanford band to attend the game at ND the next year. Turned me off of the elite Stanford atmosphere.

Let's face it. Whenever a bunch of college kids try to get clever and creative with their routines, every once in a while somebody's going to cross a line. Learning where the lines are is part of what college is for. Slap their hands and move on.

Didn't they ban the mascot for a while because the kid in it was so drunk at multiple games?

And there are a lot of people who can't laugh at themselves. There seem to be even more nowadays with all the people getting upset over people saying stupid things.

The Rice Marching Owl Band is similar to Stanford and made fun of A&M's traditions one time back in the 70s and had to get a police escort out of town.

Is that when the Aggie pulled the sword on that kid?

No. That was when SMU cheerleaders did a cartwheel onto the field. A&M views their field as sacred, honoring war dead. That was when they pulled the sword on the cheerleaders.

Stanford's band is similar to many Ivy league bands in type and style. Similar to some other bands in the NE they are not actually a class like many other school bands. They are more of separate group that is given leave to act as the school band. I don't think they have had direct oversight by the school in a long time.

I know but how else was I supposed to create a tongue twister title and include that fact? 07-coffee3

Edit: I've changed the title.
