RE: UAB report reveals costs to reinstate football
So if and when UAB reinstates their program, what are the steps they must take? They no longer have any staff members, coaches, players. Will they be allowed to sign more players than the 25 allowed? I'm all for their program being reestablished but I'm interested in their steps once that happens.

If this was already discussed in this thread, I apologize but I wasn't interested in reading 6 pages of slap fighting.

I'm comfy right here, TYVM. It's not a proposal, it's a fact - USA was bowl eligible last year and the year before. That wasn't my point though - my POINT was the fact those teams don't interest our fans. One of our lowest ever attended games EVER was against FIU (we won, of course).

So now I guess I'm supposed to feel bad because I'm not thrilled at the thought of leaving the conference WE founded to enter into C-USA? 01-ncaabbs

Sounds like your fans suck.

We still have somewhere between 35-45 guys here and a head coach.
We have already petitioned the NCAA to allow us to sign 50.
Even if that fails we can recruit 25 this year and 25 in 2016.
We also have hear that many players that transferred want to return.
it's actually more complicated than that but I don't have time to hash out every detail other than to say Clark put a plan together two months ago.

Thanks for the response. It will be very interesting to see how this all shakes out.

Those players that stayed should be able to start their clock from December and not lose a year. But UAB should not be able to sign more than 25 and those that transferred should not be able to transfer back without setting out a year. Rules just can't be thrown aside because UAB has incompetent people and those who work against them.

I'll let Clark handle all that. The important thing is it will be back. let's all keep our fingers crossed and thanks to everyone that has helped in any way.

Best post in this entire thread. Only when I read things like this do I feel better about UAB's chances.

More proof that birmingham is mismanaged. They will probably fly to the Bahamas to discuss uab

I would think they will have to go through some sort of transition. Maybe 2 years?

Quote:In addition, officials have said Watts will meet with city officials when his schedule permits, but not until after June 1. June 1 is also the date that Watts said he'd announce whether or not Blazer football would return.

Rick Stockstill of MTSU indicated UAB going away would be a recruiting positive.

Recruiting is a blood sport.

I posted over there at times in support of UAB. It was not just UAB people and players that got hurt. It was also all the schools who have schedule them in football that had to do last minute replacements. I read San Diego State was supposed to play them this year, but they could only find U. San Diego from the Pioneer League to play in their place. Not someone you really should be playing.

Be careful what you wish for. UAB is a key program and brings credibility to the conference. The last thing CUSA needs is to lose its last 2 NCAA teams (Tulsa being the representative last year).

The conversation didn't get that far, but by the looks of her, probably less than what I'd paid for dinner at whatever chicken place that was.*
