If it helps us 'croot any better, I don't think it's a big deal. The atmosphere the first night the Bearcats open the stadium will be electric regardless of whether there were HS games there before or not.

Excellent. Any time Nippert is used for high school football events that has to be good publicity for the school, the stadium and the program.

All that, plus a "shakedown" event before the UC opener may help UC officials iron out some pedestrian traffic flow issues, concession traffic, and new restroom issues that could stink up the opener so to speak.

More importantly, it would give a deadline to finish everything a week earlier.

Bingo! All the wannabees and gottabees will be there. Probably see them for the Miami FL game too and then they will disappear into the night.

True, years ago it was one of the reasons Sam Griffin chose the Bearcats after Don Bosco Prep played at Nippert. Having the Crosstown Showdowns and Ohio vs. the USA FB games at Nippert is an excellent recruiting tool.

My reason for posting it was for information only, not to pass judgment.

This doesn't make me happy. It's like buying what you think is a new care on to find it is a demo.

I doubt they open your club seats to the public. It will likely only be the lower bowl.

RE: Game Times - Alabama A&M & Miami Fl
From Mike Dyer @ Cincinnati Enquirer:

Four marquee games between elite programs from Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and Indiana are scheduled to be played at University of Cincinnati's newly-renovated Nippert Stadium. UC football spokesman Ryan Koslen said the games are scheduled for Nippert Stadium as long as everything is ready on the construction end.

St. Xavier plays Covington Catholic at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28. Indianapolis Cathedral, which has won five consecutive state titles, meets Moeller at 8 p.m. Moeller was a Division I state semifinalist in 2014 after it won two straight state titles prior to that.

On Aug. 29, La Salle will begin its defense of its first state football title when the Lancers play Carmel (Ind.). Carmel was the Class 6A state runner-up last season while La Salle won the Division II state title. Kickoff is 6 p.m.

Colerain plays Warren Central at 8:30 p.m. Warren Central won the Indiana Class 6A state title in 2013.

Nippert Stadium has been the primary site for Showdown games since the event's inception in 1998.

Why would you play a Friday night game if it is only going to be televised on CBS Sports Net?

Those 3 games against Memphis, Miami(FL) and BYU is going to be huge. And I will have to DVR both the Friday games :(

Better exposure being the only game on Friday night as opposed to being lumped in with the games on ABC and the ESPN networks on Saturday.

RE: Game Times - Alabama A&M & Miami Fl/ road games
Overall, the American's TV deal is giving UC a solid chance to impress the nation. I agree those ESPN games are huge. No worse than 2-1 will set the Cats up for a Top 25 level season. I can't really argue with the Friday night USF game, CBSSN isn't great but it far better than regional coverage or ESPN3.

UC's biggest TV issue at the moment is the FCS game, ESPN3 and the game at Miami Oh, ESPN3. The good news is that those are the type of games where TV works against UC in terms of fan support.

While 2016 isn't looking great from a non-conference TV perspective, 2017 and beyond looks good. The key is not getting the short straw when playing at schools with conference networks. Playing at Ohio State last year was a great opportunity until you realize the game was on the Big Ten Network. Future road games at Michigan, Ohio State, Indiana, Nebraska and Purdue hopefully avoid the Big Ten Network. Same thing with playing at UCLA. Game looks great on paper now but if the game is on the PAC-12 Network that doesn't help UC. One advantage with playing at BYU and Boise State will be that those schools will be featured on an ESPN network.

Whole heartedly agree with this post. An ESPN 3 game is essentially a blackout game considering no cable network in my area provides the service. I cannot even go to Bdubs to watch the game. Personally, I like the Cbssn games better than the espn games. I know espn it is better for prestige and recruiting, but you do not have to endure the constant barrage of advertising for the next great p5 game. The announcing team is pretty good IMHO. Much better than the ESPN family or Big 10 network. I do not know if CBssn only covers the AAC, but it seems the commentators are more familiar and offer critical analysis of players and the game plan. I do not believe you get this with the other networks.
