Are graduates transferring to other schools largely due to athletic reasons? Of course.

“Well, that's not the intent of the rule,” Kansas basketball coach Bill Self said. “The intent of the rule was to go for educational reasons. I feel it's very wrong for a mid-major school to redshirt and develop a kid and all of a sudden he's good enough to be recruitable by everybody in the country after he's graduated. The fact they have to sit out, now they're going for the right reasons, as opposed to just an athletic reason.”

Added Sun Belt commissioner Karl Benson: “I don't think (the graduate transfer rule) fits into the core values of intercollegiate athletics. It's been done and people have taken advantage of it. I mean, the kid from Eastern Washington (Adams) is going to Oregon -- and they're opening the season with them. It just doesn't feel right.”

Lol...i like self but that's funny coming from a coach that is making millions off of supposedly student athletes that are one and done.

I do appreciate how he sticks up for us little guys a bit, though.

Self is recruiting a graduate transfer from Charlotte, which is a midmajor. I didn't add that part.

He's not stupid. He's going to take advantage of the rule, just like anyone else. But he is, at least, willing to publicly state that it is unfair to midmajors that have developed an under-recruited player.

That's my point he is making the situation possible. The article made it seem like he is above that.

Maybe he suffers from dual personality disorder. One doesn't know what the other is saying or doing. That's certainly a possibility.
