Quote:The new complex will be at the intersection of Piedmont Avenue and John Wesley Dobbs Avenue and will house about 1,100 students. It will also include a dining hall.

It is the first student housing facility in the University System of Georgia to be built and operated under a new public-private partnership between the system and Corvias Campus Living, authorized through a state constitutional amendment that Georgia voters approved in 2014.

“This project’s hugely important to Georgia State because the opportunity for students to live on campus really provides for a richer, more supportive academic environment,” said Mark Becker, president of Georgia State. “With this project, we will get to what has been a long-term goal for Georgia State, which is to have on-campus housing for more than 20 percent of our undergraduate population.”

50 Miles of New Street Car Lines Billed As Priority

Should be a great place to jump on the street car and head to Turner Field with these new lines becoming priority.

Yeah I saw that last week. Exciting times downtown. The Ted will bring more housing on that side of campus plus a likely flood of off campus renters in Mechanicsville and Peoplestown

The rendition looks great, but where are the homeless people and crackheads who frequent the area?

It's sad that's what they resort to. Every single major city on the planet has homeless people. If you don't like cities, then stay away from cities.

Of course there isn't any homelessness in the economic powerhouse that is Bulloch County/Statesboro.

They're talking with me while I take a smoke break around back. I even know some of them by their real (and amazingly normal) names! It's cool, though, I can handle the real world.

EDIT: I know it was meant to be a quick joke...don't know why it struck me as so lame in the moment. Probably because it's easier to make light of the fate of gnats than that of people. Sorry to get kind of stupid message board serious for a second.

Have been taking that step for 20'years. We have 9000 Students on and off campus downtown. This puts us over 10k. The Ted project will likely push us past 10k on campus and at least that many off campus in the area.

Don't let your ignorance show. I live close by and that area is fine. And why are you so worried about the homeless people? I work in five points and ride my bike to work everyday and have never had a problem. Most are super friendly.

Not my thread, but if you are going to troll the Panthers, at least make the response enough to make me laugh. I mean that line was no more than a slight "heh" and a "heh" isn't enough to distract me enough to notice that you tried to derail a thread.

I fully expect better material from Eagles fans in the future.

I love Atlanta, but come on man. We have young folks with guns living and getting in trouble with guns all over the city/state, including downtown.

I live here. Trust me. You can find 10 times more of those stories occurring off Memorial Drive in Stone Mountain and Cobb Parkway and in Norcross and Chamblee. The difference is that when it happens off River Road in Dekalb, it doesn't make the news. You are not gonna get shot downtown and if by chance you do, it's the lead story on the news. You may however get unsolicited advice on how parking machines work or escorted to your destination that you knew how to get to already. :D

I think what Panama is trying to say is that there doesn't seem to be any more of a problem with people having guns or violent trouble in Downtown Atlanta than they do anywhere else in the state.

I'm pretty sure he stated "not downtown". If he had implied what you said then I would agree. Crime is everywhere and many of these criminals are youth. Heck I'd rather walk around downtown than Chamblee or Norcross at night.
