Thank you Bill Clinton
When Lis Shoshi landed in Little Rock and saw the signs for the Clinton Airport, Coach Beard quickly learned that President Clinton is revered and considered a hero to the people of Kosovo. He quickly called his assistants and told them to make some changes in the itinerary for Mr. Shoshi. Lis was apparently quite excited to be in the home state of his childhood hero and it may well have swayed him from going to school in the Pac10 or Big 12.

RE: Thank you Bill Clinton
In the Army, I was deployed to Bosnia in 2003. Clinton came over for the grand opening of this cemetery and it was like a prophet had shown up. Crowds estimated at 15,000 for a 10-minute speech. When the local paper found out I was from Arkansas, they interviewed me, but all I could really say was something along the lines of, "Yeah, he's a good guy." When the paper came out, my interpreter said they quoted me as saying, "He was my next door neighbor and it was fantastic living next to him!"

That's funny! A true meaning of "lost in translation".

RE: Thank you Bill Clinton
The funny thing about being lost in translation is that Clinton had the chance several years earlier to end that conflict in Kosovo, and he chose not too. It wasn't until a couple years later and more lives lost that he intervened. But my understanding is that the way the press and leaders play it out over there was that no one was going to intervene until Bill Clinton stepped in. Hence, he becomes a folki hero over there.
