There is no press conference. It will be announced via the School Website and Social Media. I guess I am a cynic, but that does not sound to optimistic. With all the national media attention it has gotten, you think they would at least have a PC, especially if it was to be restored. What a great way to say, we were wrong, have heard the people and UAB Football is back.

The difference, as i see it, is that what the Board has done to UAB has become a national embarrasment and the only way to fix it is to over turn the decision...though I am weary that they will do so.

"If" UAB is allowed to return, I would hope they work on a system where they are removed from being under the same approval board as Bama. If that school had gotten their stadium, I think WITHOUT number fudging they would have been at 30K attendance. Their is a decent following for that program and now that it was nearly destroyed, you just may see more passion.

You are clueless. The difference is that now, the UA BOT's sabotage of the program is out in the open and they will no longer be able to take decisions to keep UAB football from obtaining success.

A few years ago, UAB wanted to hire Jimbo Fisher. The UA BOT made them hire Calloway instead.

UAB also raised funds for a 30k seat on-campus stadium to replace cavernous, aging Legion Field (off campus in a not-so-nice neighborhood) as the home of the program. Building the stadium would have been at no cost to the UA system. The UA BOT did not allow construction.
Ha, I am clueless. Nothing is going to change with the UA BOT unless everyone is fired, and no one is going to be fired. I study systems for my job and I can tell you that nothing has or will change with the UA BOT or UAB football unless people are removed from their jobs.

You are very naive if you thing 20 years of control and little support for UAB will change anytime soon.

I feel bad for UAB fans, but I just don't think this is going to work.

They can't pull the same crap now that lawmakers and journalists are hounding them

Will be interesting to see if they, the BOT and Watts, decide to go down with the ship with everyone watching. I would not put it past them.

Weary means tired. You want wary or leery. You also have a their/there confusion. Sorry to be a grammar nazi (this post will probably get me neg-repped) but the use of weary has become a bit of a pet peeve of mine lately.

But your post is on point. No doubt that had UAB been allowed even some autonomy in making football decisions, it would have developed a much greater base of support.

Always awesome to join a sports board and get a lecture in grammar just as Ive gotten out of bed. I wont neg rep you but seriously next time just suck it up. Its like texting. Nobody gives a **** on a board. If I was rewriting my thesis Id have a cup of coffee first and double check my post.

(btw, I didnt put commas in either or use appropriate apostrophes in my conjunctions.)

Are you nuts? LOL. They actually had a new coach and were bowl eligible. I really dont understand ECU fans. Have always respected the program going back to the 80's. But literally some of the worse online posters in the world. Literally the only group of people advocating the killing of another school's program by outside interests

Asking questions is a prudent and necessary means of understanding the complicated narrative that is UAB football. I can understand as a Ga State fan why you would be watching this case closely as Georgia State occupies some of the same existential ground as UAB. UAB however, has a fine history in football with a strong corp of loyal fans.

Brushing with a wide stroke and naming ECU fans as some of the worse fans online is over simplistic and disingenuous. Questioning the right of any fans to have an opinion on an online message board is doltish. Your strong affinity to the UAB plight is comes from an acute case of fear that the same thing can happen to a struggling Ga State program. In other words, methinks thou protests too much.

Another classic from "one of those" UAB - Memphis basketball games was the pic of a student holding a sign with "Mempis," multiple students giving the finger, and a student getting slapped by a Memphis player. A whole lot going on in that photo.

24-29 loss at Mississippi State, actually. http://scores.espn.go.com/ncf/boxscore?gameId=302960344 Though the sign was recreated several times after that.

The naming was of the 2 or 3 fans who had already posted on this thread. F'em is an opinion I suppose. And I think if you check CSN as a whole you can find a pretty large group of folks with an "affinity" for the injustice committed in Birmingham. As for GSU occupying the same existential ground...yes...we're both universities....we're both downtown...I guess we're both in the South...that about covers it.

Exhibit 1 : Robert Dozier smiling at the student section because he know he crushed our dreams of beating his wife assaulting ass.

Exhibit 2: This dude that has a “S” painted on his chest is throwing up not one, but two Bird Fingers to the Memphis jerks. This is a great personification of how every one was feeling at the moment.

Exhibit 3: Oh this is just special. Some smart UAB student got the idea to make a sign that will forever be remembered in Alabama lore as the day we, as a state, lost 5 I.Q. points. How in the HELL do you spell Memphis wrong at the biggest game of the year? (Some have said this was done on purpose, but I don’t believe that, it was dumb)

Exhibit 4: Me. I look like I am about to cry, and I was. The look on my face is priceless. -Stone

Exhibit 5: The guy in the orange jump suit (worn in the hopes that Robert Dozier would get arrested for hitting his girlfriend and find himself in cell block C) getting SMACKED by a Memphis player. You can almost see the dudes hand disappearing inside this guys face. Ouch.

Exhibit 6: The police woman that is absolutely oblivious to everything that is going on around her. Epic.

Ever single part of this photo just scream EPIC FAIL. I don’t think the photo could get any better.

How successful will they be if resurrected after what happened? Who will be their coach, how about players didn't many transfer out. How much support will they get if they go 0-12, do they even have a schedule for next year

Hello Panama,
To say people are "advocating the killing of another school's program by outside interests" is misguided. We have no interests is doing so...right?

Let me ask you a question...Have you ever personally attended a home game for UAB Football at Legion field? If so, I would be very interested to hear of your experience.

Me? I've been to probably 5 UAB games...in person...over the last 15 years.

The first ECU poster was right. UAB Football is DEAD. I don't say that with pleasure. But the time for Support has passed.

The second ECU poster was right. There is no way....Please Lord Baby Jesus....that 23K people sat in the stands, on average, ever home game last year to watch UAB football. In UAB's defense, they aren't the only ones "fudging" numbers.

I'll end with we are expecting good things out of GA State this year. That Abilene Christian game in 2014 was a killer (I watched in on TV, I live local).

Ok so did you attend one last yesr because I saw more than one on TV and it didnt look like they were dead or fudging numbers. Here is the thing, when you lose people dont show up. Not exactly higher math, But I dont think Tuscaloosa ( and lets face it we are talking boosters of another FBS program) should be able to kill UAB. In addition dead programs dont get cities to pledge $10M for an IPF. They dont get people to pledge $75M for an OCS. They dont raise $6M in the last 2 weeks. They dont get people to sign up for season tickets for a defunct program. This is not Northeastern. And yes I did see 20K plus easily. Have you ever seen 20k people in a 75k seast stadium. I HAVE!...LOL.

Go ECU
Go GSU
FreeUAB
