They played teams from top conference before 09 as well. In the 10 years prior they played Iowa State, Louisville, Oregon St, Washington St. all on the blue turf.

Truth is, GASOU needs to defeat programs that they had a lead in the 4th qtr like GT and NC State. Boise State (in many of those years) had a better record than what GASOU had last year. Going undefeated will get you recognition. Right now, some parts of the nation don't know who Georgia Southern is (or several SBC members). Going undefeated will raise eyebrows. Look how often Marshall was mentioned last season while defeating no one but was undefeated for a majority of the season.

The truth is you are reaching bringing up those scold, louisville wasn't in a top conference then. The truth is the P5's want winnable ganes against somewhat respected teams. If you are too good, they run like with boise. If you are too bad they won't even think about it. Usually the biggest reason it happens is relationships between departments or the coach of the P5 sees your area as fertile recruiting ground and wants in.

I'm just bring up teams that our fan base would like to see. Truth of the matter is Paulson Stadium isn't huge but big enough and the program is only in it's 2nd year in conference.

I think our fan base just wants a ACC school to visit like WF, NC State to generate some local buzz.

Boise Capacity through the years

36,387 (2012–Present)
33,500 (2009–2011)
32,000 (2008)
30,000 (1997–2007)
20,000 (1975–1996)

There are many more things that go into scheduling beyond name recognition. Too many people make scheduling soundso simple, it isn't. Logistics, open dates, money, relationships etc all play huge parts of 2 schools being able to agree on something.

Which I understand. I think our fan base is impatient for a program from the Big 5 to visit Paulson Stadium. I think the next step for GASOU is to get either Army/Navy (who Southern has past coaching relationships with) or AAC team.

Thanks, couldn't remember some of the years we play teams. No offense to the MAC schools, but they don't register at all in the south, even NIU would be a tough sell unless they came in ranked. Basically we can get ACC and SEC pay games and MAC schools to do home and home. One good thing is that in 2016 we drop Idaho and TxSt (though I do enjoy playing them) for ArkSt and UL-L. No more * 03-wink

I hope they alternate them and not have both home or away.
