Communicate. Don't send out something once a month or once a quarter.
Put something on the official board at least once a week to let the fans know what's going on. Doesn't have to be a long blog. If there's really nothing to talk about, just a few paragraphs letting the fans know there is something going on. Have an official column at least once a week and call it "From the Coach". This has been one of our program's weaknesses for years. Lack of consistent communication from the coach to the fans. Wouldn't take but a few minutes of his time, and would be invaluable in growing fan support. Pappy mentions this in his blog.

Maybe we can be the first at something. It does sound like a "nice" idea. But coaches have a lot of other things to worry about. Might be something the sports information guy could do or maybe the DOBO.
