Gasol Named First Team All-NBA
The Grizzlies' 7-foot center was named Thursday to the All-NBA first team, joining Golden State’s Stephen Curry, Cleveland’s LeBron James, Houston’s James Harden and New Orleans’ Anthony Davis.
Gasol earned first-team honors for the first time after averaging a career-best 17.4 points. He also posted 7.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists during the regular season.
The second team consists of Russell Westbrook (Oklahoma City), Chris Paul (Los Angeles Clippers), LaMarcus Aldridge (Portland), Pau Gasol (Chicago) and DeMarcus Cousins (Sacramento).
The third team is composed of Golden State’s Klay Thompson, Cleveland’s Kyrie Irving, the L.A. Clippers’ Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan, and San Antonio’s Tim Duncan.

Yes it is. And I'll admit I'm a bit surprised.

I think they actually required all five positions to be considered, instead of top five vote getters (or just taking 3 frontcourt and 2 backcourt). With Howard out most of the year, Cousins was the only other option to put at center. He had a fine year but did so on a poor team.
Marc was the obvious choice if a center had to be included.

He is a teriffic player, that I'm not surprised about. I'm surprised that the national media, especially the large market ones, voted for any of our players.
