Actually, the study should be completed by Oct/Nov, and they are still shooting for 2018.
For those that have not been able to read the article. The consultant selected is Populus Architects. They have an excellent reputation, most recently working on the new Baylor University Stadium and (among others) have also consulted on work on stadiums for Texas A&M, Virginia Tech, Alabama and Florida. They were also involved in the design of the new Yankee Stadium, Camden Yards and Harbor Park.
Their deliverables include stadium location, capacity, construction cost estimate, drawings, and videos depicting the conceptual stadium.
It sounded to me like the consideration of the Foreman Field locations is more than just perfunctory. If that location is chosen, the field and the Ainsley Complex would remain and the two clamshells replaced one at a time along with the north end zone bleachers. If the JMU example is followed, construction of each side would take nine months during the off season and all games would be played at Foreman Field during the construction process.
Actually, quite a significant amount of information was revealed. We will know a lot more before the 2015 season is over. Personally, I'm psyched!
