Exclamation 5 More Bold Predictions for ACC 2015
1. Virginia Tech will win at least 10 games. The offense looked vastly improved in the spring; the defense should be terrific up front; overall, 16 starters return. Plus, the schedule is among the more manageable in the ACC.

2. Clemson will have two 1,000-yard receivers. (Mike Williams and Artavis Scott)

3. Florida State will find its way into the top 10 again. Miami and Louisville are both at home; Ga Tech and Clemson are later in the season.

4. NC State will be the best team in North Carolina... and potentially a dark horse in the Atlantic... nine starters returning on offense -- including quarterback Jacoby Brissett and a deep running back group.

5. Al Golden will do enough to return in 2016. The schedule is extremely difficult... If the Hurricanes can pull out eight or nine wins given a slate featuring Nebraska, Florida State and Clemson, in addition to the usual Coastal rotation -- he should stay in Coral Gables.

RE: 5 More Bold Predictions for ACC 2015
1. Literally 0% chance of that happening.

2. Only if Watson stays healthy.

3. Maybe. FSU needs to lose no more than 2, and those 2 can only be @Clemson and @GT.

4. Maybe. It certainly won't be Wake or UNCrap.

5. Dear 8 pound, 6 ounce, newborn baby infant Jesus, please make this happen while losing to FSU for the 9th time in the last 11 years.

Miami has a nice little QB. He's their only hope. He's got to lead despite Golden.

You think VT goes at least 10-2?

Well, technically it would be no worse than 10-3, but I think 10 regular season wins is not totally unreasonable.

VA TECH 2015 Football Schedule
? Sept. 7 OHIO STATE (Mon.)
W Sept. 12 FURMAN
W Sept. 19 at Purdue
W Sept. 26 at East Carolina
W Oct. 3 PITT
W Oct. 9 NC STATE (Fri.)
? Oct. 17 at Miami
W Oct. 24 DUKE
? Oct. 31 at Boston College
Nov. 7 OPEN
? Nov. 12 at Georgia Tech (Thurs.)
W Nov. 21 NORTH CAROLINA
W Nov. 28 at Virginia

8 likely wins, 4 games I'm not sure about. I give VT at least a 40% chance of beating Ohio State outright. No way the team loses to ECU 2 years in a row. I like the Hokies' chances at Miami (as long as Al Golden is still coaching). I lean toward wins at BC and at GT, but those are road games.

Who knows what the bowl opponent would be, but if it's not a CFP bowl it's definitely winnable.

Don't think you're beating Ohio State...much different team especial with Cordell Jones likely the QB.

RE: 5 More Bold Predictions for ACC 2015
You are going to be destroyed by Ohio State.

But you're also more than capable of losing to ECU, Duke, GT, Miami, Pitt, NC State and BC. GT could be the best team in the conference next year and you think VT, who struggled to beat Wake 3-0 in OT last year, is more likely than not to win that matchup?

VT fans were thinking Beamer was going to turn things around last year, too.

RE: 5 More Bold Predictions for ACC 2015
IMO, the most likely way VT gets to 10 wins is to lose to Ohio State and GT, and maybe one more loss (9-3), then win the bowl.

Having said that... we got 'em right where we want 'em

Given your very real struggles the last 3 years, do you actually think it's possible not to have a single "slip up" against a lesser program? (I say "program", because at present, there doesn't appear to be much difference in the quality of the "teams".)

Based on who's coming back, who's arriving, and what I'm reading from Spring camp, I believe that the Hokies will have a great 2015-16 season. Yes, I'm biased, but that doesn't prove that I'm wrong.

If they can't do it with that schedule, when will they ever be able to do it again?

Beamer is done. But I'll gladly watch your denial for several more years.

I'll go out on a limb and say Pitt wins 7 (8 at the most). Pitt's offense will keep them in games. And the unknown is how much of a difference will Narduzzi's style of defense make on the current talent, or lack there of, on defense.

Quote:Stewart, What are the top five underrated teams heading into the 2015 season?

Virginia Tech. Podcast listeners already know how bullish I am on the Hokies. I believe Frank Beamer's program will break out of its recent slump. Last year's team went just 7-6 but did win road games against Ohio State (remember that one?) and Duke. Its offense was mostly abysmal, but quarterback Michael Brewer, entering his second year in the system, put up big numbers in his spring scrimmages. The backfield is deep and healthy. And the defense returns standouts like cornerback Kendall Fuller and defensive end Dadi Nicolas.
I could see this team winning 10-plus games.

I remember when media and analysts said guys like Chris Rix and EJ Manuel would win the Heisman, and how FSU was "back" every year of the mid-to-late aughts despite still having the same aged coach.

I think you lose to the Pirates again this year.
