RE: My Plea to Everyone regarding the ATF Fundraising Drive
The pledge forms are specifically NOT for season tickets. These are just straight up donations.

RE: My Plea to Everyone regarding the ATF Fundraising Drive
Just received an e-mail from UAB Athletics about the ATF and private pledge support. Why is Wes Smith e-mail address listed as one of the two people to send pledge info to? That's not a good idea those cards might not see daylight.

The UAB Athletics Task Force Met On Thursday...

Athletics Gift Agreement

The UAB Athletics Assessment Task Force met in an open forum at Bartow Arena on Thursday, May 7, 2015. The meeting was an update on the subcommittee of Public/Private Support.

In an effort to fulfill the charge given to the UAB Athletics Assessment Task Force to conduct an independent review of the sustainability of football, bowling and rifle programs, the task force subcommittee of Public/Private Support, led by Champion Club members Don Hire and Justin Craft, will continue to be assessing donor interest over a five year period. The meeting overviewed the ongoing plan to secure the financial resources necessary and now provides an opportunity for the Birmingham community to be involved in the subcommittee's efforts. As verified at last night's subcommittee meeting, these five year pledges will indicate the level of support necessary.

Those interested in making a pledge to support the sustainability of football, bowling and rifle are encouraged to by clicking here. In the event the purpose of the pledge is unable to be met because the athletic programs remain discontinued, the financial agreement has the option to be null and void. Please complete the form and return to:

Wes Smith
Chair of the Athletic Assessment Task Force by email at wsmith@mayerelectric.com or mail:
3405 4th Avenue South, Birmingham, AL 3522.

Or

Justin Craft
Chair of the Task Force Subcommittee for Public/Private Support at justin@nowlinwm.com or mail: Nowlin and Associates, 2718 20th S #100, Birmingham, AL 35209.

Look, I know that people are leery of Wes, but to say that he would take pledges for football and not turn them in is just crazy talk.

If you're worried about it, send them to Brad Hardekopf at hardebp@uab.edu

I'm just saying that I find it ironic that now he's the first option for where to send pledges and the week prior he leaked e-mails of his concerned with the lack of pledges. So to me it's just strange twists that's what I was trying to point out.

Send it to Justin! I had already sent mine to Brad per earlier instructions but I e-mail Justin to let him know I had done so and gave him my total pledge amount.

RE: My Plea to Everyone regarding the ATF Fundraising Drive
I just walked mine to the Blazers Boosters office and hand delivered it. Highlighted the important areas and crossed out the "used for other purposes" part. Signed it and was good to go.

If youre concerned, understandable, but nitpicking everything trying to find a conspiracy is gonba leave you missing the due date.

Can we get this information to the local and social media? I think many individuals would be willing to pledge.

Late to the party, but I just sent my pledge in to Justin. This week is critical, so if you're on the fence or procrastinating, the time is now!

I am not in the business of disclosing private conversations, but I ran into Don Hire yesterday. My wife knows he and his wife, I do not. But I introduced myself to him, and told him I'd sent in my pledge and asked him what I could do to help. We had a brief cordial conversation. Points made by Mr. Hire, or at least what I understood him to infer,

1) The number of people who pledge is a vital as the amount of money raised. There needs to be a groundswell for football, from a lot of people. Money is important, but so is sheer numbers of supporters. Six million dollars is a approximately $1.25MM a year in support. Not near enough, a drop in the bucket, of the amount needed for the world class program the University deserves. So keep working!

2) The University is on the up and up with the pledge documents. He knows and trusts Wes Smith, and is confident he is strongly for football and is trying to do the right thing.

3) This week is critical. Tell everyone you know.

I think his credibility is unquestioned, at least it is for me. Please follow the rules, be respectful to the administration, and send in your pledges!!!

Please.

"He knows and trusts Wes Smith,"

hmmmmmm....... But then again you said that you had not met Don until you introduced yourself so that might explain his wariness. To my knowledge everything you reported is accurate based on my own conversations with Don.

I don't think that we can over emphasis the need for the large number of pledges.
It is very true that every little bit helps, but small pledges are more important to illustrate the broad base of support for Blazer football when we try to bring back the program. Please give what your can, but if you can't afford anything else, send in a pledge for $1 a year for 5 years - true it isn't much money, but number wise it counts as much a pledge for $100,000. Please someone put this out on Facebook and Twitter. I'm social media challenged.

So in terms of strategy, it would be better to split mine in half and have my smoking hot wife sign the other one separately?

Please don't put out on social media that we are looking for people to donate a $1 a year. That hurts our message and what we are doing in the public eye.

If people are so challenged that they can't afford more than a $1 a year, then they shouldn't be pledging or worrying about anything else but providing for themselves/family.
